Just to be clear for you guys talking about gaming. Bandwidth does not guarantee a good gaming experience. The latency of the line is far more important. If 2 people playing a game like BFBC2 for instance and one had a 100Mb line with a 50ms latency vs the other with a 12Mb line but with a 10ms latency. The person with the lower bandwidth would have a better gaming experience and if for instance they faced off in the game and both fired at each other at virtually the same time, the guy with the 100Mb line would lose since he has a higher latency thus taking him longer to update his status to the server than the guy with the 12Mb connection. By the time the server was notified he shot, he would be dead since the other person had a lower latency and was able to update his status much faster. With gaming bandwidth is secondary, you don't need huge bandwidth to play any game because the mount of data you are sending is actually very small. You need to be able to do it quickly.

XrayMan direraptor22 Yikes! Server is only like 30 minutes from me and I get 700+ ping lol... at this point basically internet gaming is a no go since it'll just kick me off a server as soon as I join up. IM applications like Skype, AIM, etc will disconnect and reconnect randomly, delays are HORRIBLE. This is with nothing else in the house running, only 1 computer connected. No downloads/uploads, idle state. ATT can take this and shove up it their @!#$@# lol...

I learned a lesson on latency from my "free" included in the HOA connection. What a joke the company that provides the service is. It's called Fibershpere, you all should avoid them at all cost. They keep increasing the bandwidth, but decreasing the line quality. I get upwards of 100ms of latency now. I actually had to get Comcast at 12Mb/s, which works better than Fibersphere's 70Mb/s connection. I do hook it up to download anything with though.. obviously. I just can't play games with it, unless I want to see everyone skipping around in BC2.

With enough investors and enough public interested you can start laying foundation for a network. I remember romania had that same problem until people bough out small parts of an ISP and turned them into metroethernet networks that now gets 500mbs internally within the country and and 10+ outside of the country w/ the rest of the world.

I get adsl2+ 60Gb a month for 59 buks, no contract not that i would leave anyway this in also on a Telstra dslam (the enemy) arrh haha in your face telstra! how must it feel firstly being told by 17 year old (at the time) "f**k you I,ll make my own infrastructure" for them refusing to provide adsl connection, then proving that possible, then few years later being under cut big time by internode on their very own equipment. Amazing what one young person can do when you put your mind to it.

XrayMan SocioPC I pay $100 a month for this... Omg, are you serious? Ouch!!!! Yep.. it's a solid connection and never budges from those speeds and the pings are solid for gaming. I had to put up a tower to even get it.. the only other thing available is DSL and it's absolutely terrible. It's 3mb x 768kbps and the speeds are always low and it lags severely from 1pm to 3am. There's a chance fiber may run by my place this year I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Really, it is not a cap. It is when they start signaling a warning flag. They might call you the second month that you go over 250GB. That's what they told me anyway.
