Well then, if my grease isn't the problem and I am for sure I applied that bugger correctly comes down to loop. But what I'd it's not the loop, mind you I have my gpu in with as well would it affect it that much? I suppose I have a project after work.
Ive got cpu , mosfet , and 2 gpus in my loop with 2 rads ....hmm so is having 2 rads mean its 2 loops? Mine goes....res/pump>120.3Rad>cpu>240Rad>Mosfet>Gpu>Gpu

I think the Laing d5 would be OK. I would consider getting the Koolance SPD24 pump controller. It will boost your 12v closer to 24v and help the pump get closer to specs.

v1ral Quick question... Should I update my bios? I have been using the one since I opened the box, do you think this will affect my overclock ventures or will it hinder it? Update your BIOS to v.77 or thereabouts, if you want to update it...but I don't think that is your problem at this point. Guess what? I am running a Batch#3849B203 CPU, a Batch#3849B202 CPU, and a Batch#3849B056 CPU along with my new Baby Boy, the 970 HexaCore CPU, and my point is I have been stable and solid with the 920's for two years and counting...right at YOUR preferred Mhz of 4210Mhz 24/7, doing FAHome BigAdvanced Work Units over and over again, sort of like a Swiss watch works...so do I have your attention yet? I think if you stop listening to all this *bad advice* you're getting in this massive missive of a thread, and listen to somebody who knows what they are talking about with the particular CPU you have, and RAM you have to boot on top of that (I run 12GB of the G. Skill Blue Pi 8-8-8-21-59 base clock RAM with the HexaCore 970 on top of all the other things I've got going on here). If you want to get this deal handled and quit gassin' around with all this BS people are feeding you over and over again, page after page of it, and get with a program that will work for your equipment, then let's proceed. I'll help you if you agree to stop listening to the others and strictly do what I suggest until we get this deal handled, otherwise I'll Pasadena on helping you at all. Does that sound fair? I think it's a fair proposition, but you tell me about it if it appeals to your better sense at this point. I think I know what I'm doing with my CPU's, and I think I know what you need to get stable at 4.2Ghz, but are you willing to do it, and listen to my suggestions exclusively until this is a done deal?... that is the question... I'll give you a few minutes to think about an answer and check back here. I'll be ready and willing to get this situation handled if you are after that. rexrzer77

V1ral, please try it out, I am waiting to see how different his results will be compared to the "*bad advices* and BS" all the other members who have been trying to help you have proffered. I personally think that your chip is not capable of 4.2GHz with your current cooling because it will require much more voltage that's why I stopped posting. You have taken your chip to 4.1GHz so you are no idiot. You just ran into a wall with this chip but hey what do I know? Maybe some other members have had different experiences. That's why I see nothing wrong with what others have suggested here. Let master "Yoda" Rexrzer help you!

He said his ambient temp is in excess of 30C that's pushing 90F (after the computer being on for a while I bet that goes higher) Has anyone bothered to check how hot the NB is getting, they run hot under normal circumstances. Even with water his temps are going to effect the amount of voltage he needs. IMO, what he could do is buy a small window AC. Cooling the room 10F or more could not hurt. It's not the lack of stability or heat production that so weird, it's the massive drop off going from 4.1 to 4.2 His batch, from the few on the net, seems to actually be a good batch. It appears that "tulsageoff" of these very forums has the a i7 from the same batch running 4.47Ghz @1.35v (which going off his EOC F@H stats it appears it was stable enough to fold) That's my .02, I think is something were not looking at getting overly hot.

Well thanks guys. I have followed the guides posted here and on tech reaction for reaching my overclock, then I hit this wall so I came here. Anyways, yeah my temps are horrible I applied Tim numerous times and temps are quite high still. I try not to just plug in voltages as pl suggest but as of late this venture to 4.2 has got me in a wad of pooh-pooh. Anyways. I've ran my 4.1 with everything on auto except for memory, vcore and vtt which as follows. Vcore 1.275 with out droop Vtt +175 Vdimm 1.65 8-8-8-21 as per mfg specifications The main for this whole overclocking venture was to ram to exactly 1600 MHz which I know could be done, then I stumbled upon this nifty 4.2 ghz club which with my memory goal was right up my alley. So working my way up vtt got super high on all auto settings temps weren't bad but when I tried to Plug in voltages as a "starting guide" from the site and temps got crazy. It's just when I get to 199+ I temps that mind boggle all of you!! Sorry if I am not too detailed withthe specs, I am at work, working the graveyard shift.
And yes inwould like to hear what you have to say.. If you mave msn just pm me your addy. Shashoots

v1ral, try using VTT of +100 to +175, experiment with every single option in between. Try dropping your QPI PLL as well, since I think you mentioned you had them pretty high (over 1.3) at one point and it didn't help. For my 4.2GHz that I just ran 100 passes of LinX with 25k PS, I have +150 VTT and 1.200 QPI PLL... I'm also running a BCLK of 201 with 21x multi. Downside to lowered QPI PLL and VTT is that your VCore requirements tend to go up a bit, but since you're on water I don't think it'll matter too much especially when QPI PLL and VTT are lowered. Since you're also at 6GB RAM like I am, don't think you'll be needing so much VTT... it's worth a shot. But DO NOT expect my settings to work with yours. It's just an idea of where to put your voltages. Overclocking is not about cranking voltages

Okay what is your vcore, also should I leave everything on auto sans mentioned tweaks. I really wanna know the ins of what these voltages do, I am so late to this I have ran a 4.0 oc since I got my x58 rig up with only changing a few things which amazed me. I would pass every test everything!!
Anyways where is this Rex guy?

OK here's the situation v1ral: I'm exactly in the same hole you are in, but I'm stuck at 203 (stable) instead of your 199 (or 197?); and my VTT at that speed is 1.125V, and CPU 1.35Vcore set, actual is a bit lower; 53.26 Gflops, but I got 54.4 Gflops W/202. And I have a little core temp wiggle room (you don't). I've tried seemingly just about everything. I even tried jumping to 211, no luck, BSOD 124 after 40sec every time I run LinX. I cranked it up to CPU 1.4Vcore for that, dozens of settings. Core temps not bad, Vreg not alarming until I reach VTT 1.4V. No matter what I do, as I raise CPU Vcore above 1.35V the Gflops drop. But I am very stubborn, don't give up easily. The thing is, I think my prob is also yours, and when I find the solution it may help you too. I may post my own help thread for it, but first I want to transcribe all the settings I have tried to a spreadsheet for ppl to check out, to see just exactly what I have tried and the results for each try. This will take me a few days, perhaps I will do it over the weekend, IDK. I will keep you posted. Hang in there.
