Thanks guys! Didn't get any loving on the first WU but I have another one to reconfigure.

So I have a 550ti also, PPD wasn't very good on it so I haven't been using it to fold. Think it's worth it with these units?

The 550ti caught one out of the shoot. This card isn't very good folder. I have a TPF of almost 6 min with about 28k PPD. I stopped folding on this card cause it was horrible but that ppd isn't too bad. Need to see my 470's catch a few.

yes any Fermi will work as with Kepler
these are gpu3 only

Only problem with that is the core needed to run these on Kepler cause any Fermi to get lower PPD and work slower

unless you have core v2.22 and do a downgrade
I have both and am now keeping a backup for fermi

makes a different with gtx570
tpf 2m 48s v2.25
tpf 2m 6s v2.22

When I open all these files and get to core15 it doesnt say if it's 2.25 or 2.22
I did a clean install a week or so ago so I probably have 2.25, where would I find 2.22?

You can only tell once it starts and you then inspect the log file... will list the core version.  then you stop, swap, and restart.
Once I know for sure which one is running, I make a backup and add 222 to the name.

I hate to be a wet blanket here, but I feel I should remind everyone that the more non-beta-team-members try to pick up these WU, the fewer beta team members receive them, which means further delaying the transition to all (or at least many more) GPU projects receiving QRBs.  So, those of you willing to wait until they are out of beta will enable the entire team to receive them sooner.
I understand the temptation involved, and it's an easy decision for me either way because I am a beta team member and I don't have any GPUs, but foregoing this short-term bonus for a few will lead to the long-term bonus coming sooner for everyone.

Tank I think you have to look into the log info of the current work units information and it should show the current version .Thats the log file showing while its running ..

Check the log file; it'll tell you which version of core15 you have.

After folding starts, take a look at FAHlog.txt and just below the starting header there will be a summary of the core and it will list 2.25 or 2.22

The file I sent is 2.22 for sure , just replace the one in your directory.

It shouldn't say updating core unless the WU you were assigned required a newer core (2.25). What WU were you assigned?

8057, but I cut and pasted the 2.22 then restarted the clients, so I'm assuming I was running the 2.25 and it updated the 2.22.

We've seen this before with the bigbeta's

I have to be honest, ever since the changed the core requirements of the big smp units I've taken a huge hit in PPD. It's nice to see I have some hardware that will produce more that's was entices people. Most of us fold for the science for personal reasons but we know if there were no points associated with it most wouldn't stay folding.

I applied for the beta team as well

Tank,
Don't take my post wrong
I would assume if the folks at the mother-ship had that big of a problem with it.....they would have already said something or made the server private etc..
Compared to all the heavy hitters, most of us are folding for free anyway :)
Do you have a spare room for me now that I can hit the slopes and then hit the bong :)

Don't sign up for the Beta Team unless you are really committed to that effort.  If you look at what they do for us, a lot of it isn't as sexy as this new 8057 WU.  You'll often be working WUs that don't have any points advantage and PPD needs to be something you basically are not driven toward.

I think most of us can admit that we are "Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs" (meaning Folding points).    That's OK because without the points (as Tank said), we're in a pretty tedious effort with no recognition of progress.  I do agree with Punchy though, because we all want these new GPU WU designs to get released (like yesterday).  I have read posts from members of the Beta Team who were having difficulty getting the 8057 assigned to them.  They have to do their thing for the rest of us to see these WUs released to the general Folding population.

Lefty... I never take your posts wrong. I applied as a beta tester too.

Everyone want to come to Colorado now to light up but I have a feeling it's going to be trouble, the cops aren't ready to just let people have at it...it's still a schedule 1 according to the Feds.

A few weeks ago I would have agreed that we were "stealing" wus from beta team members. Now it seems like the wus are plentiful, I received them on my first try as did a few others. So that's how I'm gonna rationalize my poor F@H behavior.

I don't think that PG has the time to police any of that stuff and I guess you could say that if the WU comes back in processed OK, then that is some level of test.  The main thing that we can't do for them (when not on the Beta Team) is to have entry into the Beta Forum to report on what we are seeing.  But we do have Beta Members here that may pass some of our observations along for us.

Don't worry, or feel that you are breaking major Folding law...but "they are after you".  Tin-foil hat or underwear...your choice.

one thing to note is what bruce (site admin FF) said
people working beta units ..ie the public... are taken into account
ever since Beta team went public (un-silent) they had to take that into consideration

and once the word/info is out... you can't hold a good thing back...expect the floodgate to be open... like we are seeing now
(you should see OCN... we were a little late to the party)

basically vijay said let them fold whatever (they aren't breaking rules)
you however may not get support for beta WU's

other thing to note these are test units ->  not actual work
beta members have notice repeating wu's
so what you have is the same wu's being done over and over for benching

what is actually suffering is real work (those projects with real implications for cures)..since fewer are doing them now
in return for the betas

yes I realize that beta team means reduced points (normally) or funky Wu's - crashes, errors
Im not gonna be top 20 folder even after the changes with QRB...so reaching to be top dog aint it

update:correction

Im on the Beta team
just got my email from bruce
finally Im gagged...

You do enjoy those little metal hats.

Speaking of 8057 observations, I did notice something interesting. Normally my two 580s are maxed out at 99% usage. But when I'm folding one 8057 and a different Wu on the other GPU, the 8057 gpu never gets to 99%, it dances between 95-98%. When I'm folding two 8057s they both stay at 99%.
