I have been trying to find a 1080 of any type would prefer a EVGA FTW 1080.
If I buy a 980ti can I do a step up in within 90 days to get the 1080 - the price of the 980?

For the record, base models are (normally) the only cards offered for step up - not SC, SSC, FTW, Classified, or Kingpin.

With good airflow in your case and in a single card scenario, I'd go for the 1080 ACX model because the cooler is much better.

What does that last sentence mean? (not you Arestavo, you ghosted me)

You can't step up to the 1080 FTW. It isn't on the list as it is a custom PCB and it is overclocked. The only cards on the list are reference PCB and reference clock.

If you buy a brand new 980ti, from an authorized retailer, you can step up within 90 days as long as you follow the guidelines.

What ever price you pay for the card, that will transfer to the step-up. If the card is 639, then 639 will go toward the step up. Shipping, taxes and anything else is not included toward the step up.

If the card cost 499, then 499 will go toward the step up and you will pay the difference it of pocket. They will not drop the price of the 1080 to match the price of the other card.. I am assuming that is what you mean.

Basically, if you want to go 1080, you're going to pay for it one way or another, so just buy it outright.
