I convinced the wife to let me order a 980ti before I sold my 4 wheeler ! I guess going dress shopping today with her & her dr. appt today paid off. Just kept telling her how good she looked , and after trying 5 different dresses she settled on one for my oldest son's wedding . Thank goodness he's finally getting married ! Now , what cables will I need ? My monitors use hdmi & dvi (asus 23" in surround) , so I have a dvi cable and a hdmi to dvi cable . What about the third cable ?

Congrats, i find that buying my wife a purse then asking if I can buy PC stuff works every time. ;)

As for your cables, the connections are one DVI, one HDMI, and a few display ports.

What I would do is just make sure you get the same FPS from both of your ports and then just buy a DVI to Display port wire from Amazon.

I say this because My Samsung Ultra Wide has 2 hdmis and a disuplay port. I was disappointed when I found out the Hdmi's were capped at 50fps. :(

You need one to two DP to HDMI it sounds like depending on what card you're looking at.

It looks like only DP Version 1.1 can be used which would limit you to 1920x1200 at 60hz. But this doesn't matter assuming you are using 1920x1080 at 60hz.

    A good example is below:

I'll be running 5760 x 1080 in surround . The card has 1 dvi & 1 hdmi plus the display ports . Was hoping to take advantage of the 1 dvi & hdmi to dvi (already have that cable) and 1 display port to either hdmi or dvi .

     Good Job!

Now keep her Happy till the card arrives!

I am using at the moment a Qnix qx2710 (uses a dvi), a BenQ RL2455HM (uses the HDMI 2.0 cable) and a Rog Swift (uses a Display port 1.2) I connected them all in my slot nr. 1 Hybrid.

The Hybrid is technically a reference card, it has
    • 3 x DisplayPort 1.2 (where I connected my Rog Swift)
    • 1 x DVI-I DL (My Qnix is connected too with the bypass board I was able to OC it to 120hz its a cheaper Korean monitor with a Samsung PLS panel)
    • 1 x HDMI 2.0 (where I connected my RL2455HM)
Depends on what Card you are buying, is it one with reference design? you definitely will need an adaptor or a dp to dvi. (well all cards are reference apart from the Classy and KPE)

but since you have a 'dvi cable and a hdmi to dvi cable' perhaps for the third one you will need an dvi to display port 1.2. but not sure

Well, with a 5760x1080 you would have three monitors at 1920x1080 so DP 1.1 would work. So the adaptor listed above would be great for your build.

Well I installed it Thursday afternoon & started rerunning all the benchmarks in my games & 3DMark . Batman AA retail version still has the hitch when it pans by the banners . Resident Evil 5 strangely crashed momentarily then came back in windowed mode (don't know what happened ) . Mafia 2 crashed to desktop w/no warning . Heck , Arkham Broken Knight is playable now too ! However , on the 3DMark benchmarks the 760s in sli beat the 980ti SC on the physics portion , not by a lot but still beat it . Overall went to the 980ti of course . Now the next question is , should I install one of the 760s for a PhysX card or not ? On all the games I've tested that use PhysX the only one that could use it (I believe) is Arkham Knight . It hitches in strange areas , collision detection is a joke and sometimes there is no camera angle at all if near a wall . Got stuck in a riddler trophy area after doing a car takedown & hung on a ledge I couldn't drop from or even release . Maybe I'll wait until the patch comes out .

surprisingly, yes. Doing stuff behind the wife's back is one way for her to exit the door, believe it or not. Not only that, they're going to find out anyway. Some women are like that.

I'm not married yet but I can't resist commenting, lol. Ridiculous. It's not like a new rig = new Porsche. Do your wives ask you every time they want to buy something? And do you ever say no? Do you work for your money? Does wife have hobby / hobbies? Seriously, any woman who has a problem with me buying an upgraded component / building a new rig when I want to would be weeded out prior to me even proposing. This is different from having a discussion with her about major purchases / cars / property, etc. It is a freakin' graphics card. I'm fine with my significant other having hobbies and I deserve to have my own hobbies that I can support whenever I want to with my money.

I typed this response with a smile on my face, not trying to offend anyone. I lol every time I see someone comment "ran it by the wife" or "got permission from the misses". I weep for your future.

My soon to be ex(<--thank God) used to pick me up any launched consoles when i was unable to do so(
as i was watching my baby/infant..son most times), and even when i ordered any new gpu(ie..$400+
gtx670) every year..or a new pc , she would not say anything.

Ok, your thinking that sounds great right?

Trouble is she had to as she was a major gambler and wasted away 100K in a 10yr span. Plus
    she's a pyscho as well.

     My view is this:

There is give and take in any marriage and no guy should have to 'beg' the wife for anything he
wishes, as long as he is doing his part as well.

     Basically, don't be a wuss..and don't be a lazy a**. :)

Also, try to marry a gal whom is stable..and trust me on that one ;)

Everyone's relationships are different. The OP sounds like he has a similar relationship to mine. While I'm not "required" to get my wife's permission, it makes for a better home life to know that we are both deciding on purchases over $200.

While it may seem like a small amount of money,  when you are married (for 15 years like me) and you have kids and a mortgage and several financial goals, it helps to be on the same page with most expenses. And to be fair...my wife has only ever told me no to one purchase ...a motorcycle. I can live without it so it's not really a big deal.

I have friends that keep their finances completely separate from their spouses and since they are professionals it seems to work for them.they mostly don't have kids and make enough money to splurge all of the time without too many consequences...however, it works better in my marriage to both feel like we are contributing to the greater goals of the "family" and every now and then we spoil ourselves. There must be balance in our household or one of use will go "too" crazy. (like the day i almost came home with a $8,000 motorcycle never having driven one in my life or the time she almost came home with a $3000 limited edition purse randomly)

I hear you all, fair replies, zipped up my flame suit in full anticipation of the unmarried guy doesn't understand responses. All I'm saying is guys shouldn't have to beg their gals to buy a GPU every couple of years just as gals shouldn't beg to buy that nice pair of shoes every now and then. Have to maintain some level of independence in a relationship. Nothing wrong with communicating, of course if spending is a problem with either spouse that should be discussed. But the once a year / every other year purchase for one's favorite hobby, I see no problem with that. With that said, I know I can't win here because I'm not in a married man's shoes, enjoy your purchase, OP!

I have a friend who would always tease me for having to ask permission.. he doesn't have to ask permission cause his ex wife and her new boyfriend take half his paycheck.

What wife doesn't have a mans, what was it? Huevos in her purse? Sounds like you single guys have never heard of 'Community Property". I'm kinda fond of my pension and if asking ( have never been refused) keeps me out of a refrigerator box, I'll be asking. It makes them feel better. Makes me feel better also knowing I won't be looking for an outlet in a Whirlpool box while I lose half my pension and pay out alimony. Been tipped upside down and had the cash shaken from my pockets once, not doing it again after being with this one 11 years. Oh, the blissfulness of ignorance to what happens in divorce court.

So far she hasn't hounded me yet about selling the 4wheeler , doing good there . Unfortunately , I'm having an issue with the card . Sometimes the middle & right screens will have a grey bar start on the bottom & then I'll lose half the screens to it . At first it only did it in BL2 when I would be in the inventory screen , then it did it in-game . Did it once playing Arkham (Broken) Knight also . I've noticed a lot of people starting to have issues with these cards . I hope I don't have to RMA it...
Forgot to mention , did it both in Win 7 & 10 .

A lot of people aren't having issues with the cards, some? Yes,  but not a lot.

    Congrats on the card though.

that could be caused by the cable, double check it, disconnect / reconnect all connections, see if it reoccurs

    try a different port?

This is why I firmly believe in my parents financial arrangement.  My father has his money, my mother has her money, and household bills are split up between them.  He takes one bill, she takes another and so forth until it's about even.  There is no joint account, no "our money" or comingling of assets.  Each has their own vehicle, buys their own clothing and hobby items.  If my father wants a new rifle, tool, or some other item he just goes out and buys it with his money.  If my mother wants a new book, laptop, clothing or other item, she just goes out and buys it with her money.  If either want a new vehicle they have their own money to buy it with.  Both have worked, both have separate retirement accounts and financial investments.  The only financial decisions that are discussed together are big ones involving property and the house.  Vacations or trips are discussed together not for financial reasons but because of the timing and scheduling required.

Overall makes for a great home life, zero financial arguments, no nagging or power struggles centered around access to money, both live happy lives and have been married for over 30 years.  I have six brothers and sisters with the youngest being my 30yo younger sister.

On a side note, I'm waiting to get my two 980 TI Hydro Coppers.  Then to sell my current two 780 Classified Hydro Coppers.

On the cables , it's the two that are on the display ports to HDMI on monitor . The single dvi one is OK . Maybe I should use the HDMI port and use a HDMI to dvi cable I have. Just use the display port on one monitor . As far as issues , there are owners on the Geforce forums having problems with the cards too . Now as far as the my check/her check....you can discuss that with her ! I'll make popcorn and watch...

LOL, i'll take the popcorn, but yeah, adapters are not my first choice, had a similar issue in the past, with a DVI/HDMI adapter , stopped at a store on the way home a day later and picked up a cable, problem was gone.

Oops , I meant cables . I got the 2 DisplayPort to dvi cables from Newegg . I really don't like how the DisplayPort cables fit , seem a tad loose to my taste .
