I constantly hear people say optical drives are dying. I have one, but use it maybe once or twice a year. How about you guys?

Honestly, don't really use it unless I'm burning a CD for my car. Other then that... Unless I'm reinstalling windows, I don't use it much at all.
My Alienware doesn't even have a cd rom drive. Don't miss it either.

I still have one, though it's installed into an external enclosure.
I think the last time I used it was like 3 months ago. But I also keep it around for when I need to burn a disc for a backup or something.

I have two in my PC. They're handy together if I want to copy a disk on the fly. I don't use them much anymore but are still useful for burning ISOs (Windows 10, Office 2013 and less, etc.).

I have an external CD/DVD drive and an external Blu-Ray drive, both from LG. Plug them in when needed.

I have one, use it mostly to watch blue ray movies. But I watch blue ray movies maybe once a month

I have an internal Blue Ray player/burner. I was using it a lot when I was tranferring home movies, recordings, etc, from VHS and buring to DVD. Also burn audio CD's here & there and an ocassional ISO file on DVD. I also watch a BR or DVD movie now & then.

I still put one in every build.
I have games that have to have the CD in, also software I can only install with a CD/DVD.
Once in a while the family will pop in a movie DVD or music CD.
The system has a TV card and it is part of our entertainment center.
Life is too short to carry a cheap pocket knife

I use mine to install windows. So I use it a few times a year when I reformat. Its so clogged with dust though it doesn't open unless I use the punch hole thing that unlocks the drive. lol.

I just put two in my new build. I use them all the time, too. Windows install, music CD's, film DVD's and burning. Love the whine of a spinning optical.

I use mine all the time. I have a couple hundred games on dvd, plus I have crappy Satellite internet.

Dead to me. What are cd's?  Took mine out to fit my psu in since it was a bit on the longer side and my case is small. Have had this pc bought brand new in 5/2015 never used the optical drive ONCE!

I still use the DVD/CD DL Lightscribe one I have here and there. Mostly for music discs for the truck, a movie for mom or to boot something once in a blue moon. I didn't get a bluray burner though cause when they finally weren't absurdly expensive it just didn't seem worth it to get with thumb drives, ssd's, sdcards, etc... and my use of the one I have going down so much.

I removed the drive from my Lenovo laptop and replaced it with a HDD cage.
My late 2016 MacBook Pro has no CD drive.
In a typical PC build I spec the cheapest unit, and only BC I use the disc to install Windows. But I have a feeling we will see Windows ship on USB sticks.

My desktops have them but honestly I haven't used them in I dunno how long. Even Memtest has a flash drive image, practically anything can be stuck on and booted from a flash drive that costs less than a stack of discs. I haven't even had to burn something for relatives in years.
As long as they work I'll keep reusing them in new builds though, as soon as I don't something will come along that will need it.
 Have water, will cool.

Not doing as much video production nowadays, but I still use them. Heck, even my digital camera has a CD-RW drive.

Have a Blu-ray and CD-RW, I still use mine for older games and actually would prefer to still do it that way(install from disc only), but everything going to downloads.
