The seller creates their own return policy when they list the item for sale,  so you'd have to look at the bottom of the original item description page to find out if all returns are accepted. In most cases, however, you're not supposed to return items that matched the description (if the seller crafted their return policy that way). That's why when you bought the item you agreed to the terms of purchase.
 
But in some rare cases, the seller does offer returns on any item. Or you can always message the seller and ask them privately if you can return the item. In some cases they will take it back, but unless the seller agrees to accept items back without question through the ebay system...you're boned.
 
If so, just resell the item on ebay and learn from that mistake.

You really have one of 3 options:

1. Use the ebay system and lie about the condition of the item.
2. Contact the seller and arrange a private return.
3. Resell the item on ebay.

I would recommend either option 2 or 3.

 
I contacted the seller, and he seems fine with me returning it as "Item was not as described" but since I used a paypal guest account, and did not register my real paypal account, it wont let me start a return and sends me to paypal.

Since I used a paypal guest account, the transaction does not show up on my list of transactions in paypal when I log in. This means that I cannot file a claim on it.

I just sent paypal a thing about it. I already have a paypal account and I use the same email for ebay and paypal. I just didnt want to link the two together.
 
All the info is the same, sort of. But that doesnt mean the transaction will magically appear, does it? All of those comments that tell you to make an account dont really go into what you have to do. Other than "Make an account"
 
I just linked my paypal account to ebay after I bought the item, and I am surprised that ebay doesnt offer refunds to this account, regardless if it was the one to make the purchase, seeing how its still tied to my ebay account. Its confusing to me.

Unfortunately I can't help you further, except to say wait for the reply from PayPal.
 
They intentionally make using a Guest account a big headache so people will opt to link their accounts. It sucks, but it's easier to do so than try to navigate the red tape otherwise.
 
And FYI Ebay owns PayPal, so there really is no reason not to use the two together.

You can use PayPal in a lot more places then just Ebay.

Ebay sales are as-is, where-is unless otherwise noted. I'm not even sure where to begin on the idea that Paypal is the problem. You have 3 paypal accounts...and did your purchase as a guest...why? You're returning something perfectly good with buyer's remorse and make the problem out to be Paypal. Buyers like this are the reason why I refuse to sell anything on ebay...

If he told you to open a ticket with Ebay, That means he doesn't want to give you a refund (Mind you I didn't read the whole thread)

You don't have to link paypal to ebay. Just login normally. No need for guest account. Poor research + return is the definition of buyer's remorse. From someone viewing this as a third person, you should be lucky they'll accept the return.
