Or another way of asking is, where can I find a utility that will display info about the card that doesn't require an EVGA utility?

    Welcome to the Forum Jacmac1
If you registered your card you can get the Serial Number from your My Products webpage on EVGA's website

Don't know, it's a EVGA 780 GTX, that's about all I know. I used to run PrecisionX, that came with it, but I stopped using it a long time ago. Now I just want to see the status of the card at idle and the software is asking for serial numbers to install.

Looks like years ago I registered a 480 GTX, but I replaced it with a 780GTX. I'll try the 480 serial number.
The 480 serial number works, so problem solved.
