This is ridiculous! Creating a new DIMM standard that is most likely going to be temporary cannot be explained by anything other than greed, self-grandeur and "because we can". It will cause people to buy new motherboards with these sockets, new DIMMs (because your old DDR3 or DDR4 DIMMs won't work, although Skylake may support both technologies). Such a lame step to invigorate the market, creating an illusion of activity. PC market won't be going anywhere but the sales will increase. Talk about monopoly.

I thought I wanted a Haswell-E set-up before it released. But the more I read about the changes, it seems like my path will be Z97 and the refresh processors that will come out for the 1150 socket. I will probably just stick to DDR3 for a little while longer. It's nice that DDR4 uses up a lot less power, but I want performance and it seems like that is going to cost an arm and a leg if you want some high performance DDR4 in the near future.
