I have two GTX 580's in SLi and all was running fine in Crysis 2, no flickering at all. Then Crysis 2 started flickering on me and the only change I had made was I had added in a GTX 460 dedicated PhysX card to my system. I removed (see below) the dedicated PhysX card and the game stopped flickering.

So if you have SLi with a dedicated PhysX card, try removing the dedicated PhysX card and see what happens for you. Could also be a triple gpu issue, so 3way SLi people if you have the ability to disable one of your pci-e slots like Classified boards do, try doing that and also unplug the power from the card. That's what I did instead of actually removing my dedicated PhysX card.

Hm.  I dont have the flicker problem with 3 470's.  Since removing your physx card worked for you it makes me wonder if setting physics to the cpu could fix this problem.

I'll put the GTX 460 back into play on the system and see if setting PhysX to cpu works. I did however put PhysX on one of my 580's (not dedicated, kept 580's in SLi) with the 460 still in the system and that didn't fix it.

Nope, that did not fix it. Just the mere presence of the GTX 460 in the system causes Crysis 2 to flicker.

EDIT: However I went into device manager and disabled the GTX 460, restarted the system and the flicker is gone.

Interesting. Will play around with disabling cards later and see what's up.

Disable that GTS 450 in device manager, reboot to reset nVidia drivers and see what happens.

No BR yet?  This is good stuff

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags!
The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. When you abuse it, it reverses on you and it hurts you.The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Okay, the massive flicker is gone, but a few oddities remain, like sometimes water flickers a little bit, just the odd puddle, and there were a few times when looking at a random bloom source that i'd suffer massive fps drops and mouse lag for a second.

Seems some further optimising is needed, but the game is totally playable and smooth 99% now.

Sounds like your game needs to be patched. From my understanding patch 1.1 addressed the flickering water issue.

I'm on 1.2 now. But it's not terrible flicker or anything, and pretty random and infrequent, so I'm not too worried.

I predict future SLI enhancements will come either from EA/Crytek or Nvidia once they finally sort this all out. For now my game plays fairly nice with SLI so I'm happy enough :)

So that fixed the main problem with the flicker and the motion-blur, but there are issues remaining in performance. Most times I get 90-120 FPS in the game. But when I look at certain light-sources the game chugs down to 1/2 of that and the mouse starts lagging with what feels like at least 500ms latency on the response. It jumps right back up to 120 FPS and no mouse lag once I look away.

Here's a Spot with one of these lagging light sources.
    http://cloud.steampowered...8FD38A44B9FEA87DFD63B/

And here's what my GPU usage is like when looking at it. The dips in Low GPU/Low FPS are when I look towards that light and the High points are when I look away.

Before this area SLI seems to have been working well, looking like this.

Never noticed anything like that, but I run with vsync enabled and two GTX 580's, so it stays smooth and constant for me.

Yeah, you'd think with 3 480's I'd be having the same experience. Whatever  I give up on this game.  Wake me up when there's a proper multi GPU patch. I don't feel like messing with 100 cvars to try and figure out why certain sources of bloom drop my FPS in half and lag the mouse like mad now.

This reminds me of the good old days of SLI when us early adopters had to put up with bugs and bad support and stuttering.... haven't seen it this bad since my first SLI attempt years ago.

I really think OP should get a BR, might be why I never got the flicker... I always disable physx for games that dont support it, and never thought about that.

Awe sweet ill try disabeling my phx card and leaving sli in and see if that works. For now what ive been doing is just disabeling sli and it plays fine. The issue i was having was a black oval getting larger and smaller as i moved forward and backward and the whole screen going black for a second when i scoped up. I do have the option to turn off one of the pci slots but thats too much trouble for me. Heres to hoping they fix this pile of console port pos

Thanks for bringing this back up and the BR nomination. I have sent a few others to this thread and it fixed their flickering issue when having a dedicated physx card, but they never posted to this thread.

Kram, I have 3 470's with no flickering. But I did some testing by removing 1 & with 2way sli, I had bad flickering. Put 3rd card back in, no flickering. I also have a dedicated card for physx. Never disabled it for either test.

Crysis 2 is a flicker! I am angry with this release. Sold out to the console
Sorry just can't believe this happened, very poorly released game
