I'm currently looking at purchasing some speakers/receiver for a home theater system. For now it'll be hooked up to my PC but next year when I move I'll be making my own theater room. I need some help selecting a receiver. My current budget is about $2k (not including the rear speakers). Also does anyone have recommendations on what cables I should get?

Here's what I've picked out so far. I'll be adding two rear speakers later on down the road.
Front speakers
Center Speaker
Subwoofer

Future rear speakers

I'm currently looking at this receiver. But I'm not sure if it's worth it at that price or if there's something better I could get for cheaper. I would like the receiver to have Bluetooth and wi fi.

There was a pretty huge theater thread not too long ago here that you might want to read through.  http://forums.evga.com/Surround-Sound-Home-Theater-Suggestions-m2511699.aspx .  Just curious why you're using bookshelf for fronts and towers for rears?  If you're using bookshelf in the front you might as well use them in the rear too - towers are much better utilized as fronts.  Otherwise those are some pretty good speakers - I really like Klipsch.

I really like Onkyo receivers and this is the one I have here: http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/onktxnr646/onkyo-tx-nr646-7.2-ch-x-100-watts-networking-a/v-receiver/1.html .  That site is an authorized reseller so you'll still get warranty from them.

As far as cables - depends on the length but usually 14AWG is sufficient.  I run this wire: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001UNLRGC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and make sure you get banana plugs - they make life much easier! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006U3O566/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thinking the same unless you are going to use the rears as fronts till you can afford the real fronts. I like Klipsch speakers but I feel that they are a little overpriced. I have a similar Denon and I love it. They too are a little overpriced but I have had zero issues with mine and it sounds great. I think you have a good system lined up there. The only thing I would do different is the subwoofer but I am partial to building my own.
As far as cables go, I would agree that any 14-16 gauge cable that is reputable will be fine. Most people wouldn't even notice if you used even smaller and cheaper unless you are doing a crazy long run.

I can vouch for agent8 - he knows his stuff!

I for some reason missed that sub you have picked out...  To 2nd what Agent said - building a sub is always the best if it's an option (whether car or home).  That said the sub you have picked out is SUPER overpriced.  For $500 I'd be looking at a PB-1000.  The SVS subs sound pretty good (but are pricey) and I've heard the BIC subs are supposed to be really good just a lesser known brand.  I don't have the time for building a sub so I went with a Klipsch SUB12HG after demoing them in a store locally and got it at a great price.  Frys and Newegg often run deals on speakers every few months...  Last month frys had this - http://slickdeals.net/f/9136163-klipsch-reference-5-1-surround-sound-speakers-688?v=1  and I know Newegg is running some promos right now on Klipsch ICON and Polk Monitor speakers.

Also if you're going to go wireless on the sub - just get a regular sub and get one of these: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/rocketfish-wireless-subwoofer-transmitter-receiver-kit/6965266.p?id=1218817520479&skuId=6965266 .  Wireless isn't the best for sound quality - but on a sub it's not the end of the world.  I use one of these on my system and have no problems because the wife complains about the wires and I am not able to run a sub wire where I need it.

If you do decide to build your own subwoofer, keep in mind to put it in a ported box, otherwise you're going to need a high powered amp to drive it loud. Most home subs come in ported for that reason so they don't need a lot of power to get loud. I have two 15's in a ported box in my game room and I'm planning on getting a sealed box for them with polyfil for the sound quality. For that I have a 1k RMS amp hooked up to them so I can properly drive them.

Thanks for the input! I'm going to take a look at some of the other subs and see what I come up with.

I checked out those speakers on newegg. What a rip. They have the 45b bookshelf speakers listed as 129 marked down from 399. The 12" sub at $200 from $599. They are actually about 144/227 on other websites, nobody is selling them for $399/$599. That sort of scam should be illegal.

All of the Polk stuff that was heavily discounted on Newegg earlier this summer is now all gone / sold out.

There are watches on Amazon that list for like $800 and are always 80-90% off. Have been for the last 5 years. lol.

I bought a bunch of the polk stuff for my setup. Shady pricing notwithstanding, its a good setup and I like it. Almost too loud for my space, but that's the neighbors problem. Not mine.
