Really Dumb, He was lucky he did not saw off a finger or slip and cut into the PCB.
Very Lucky a piece metal shaving did not imbed itself into the PCB and short it out.

He said it works on the Facebook comments. I don't see a problem, except that he will never RMA it.

It is nice that you know what modding means, too many people here don't or are afraid to.

Some folks happen to have use for the other slots on the board or just remember the old days where high-end didn't need so much space; and a dual-slot cooler just gets in the way of all that.  But even if you swap out for a single-slot waterblock, the stacked DVI is in the way of proper venting-- that is nVidia's doing, not just EVGA.

I wouldn't have dremeled it, though there is no other way to reduce the profile other than unsoldering the DVI as long as you don't use it, and I don't.  But either way, yeah, he lost his warranty since he'd have to return it the way he bought it and it will be considered as "user damage" even though it may still function properly or even perfectly.

That is correct as this would be user damage so there is no warranty

Wait what?! NO WARRANTY!?  ;)

Anyways, EK_Derick, I am actually using ALMOST entirely EK parts on this wC setup, right now im just shopping around trying to see if i can get cheaper than the $900 price point its at now for everything. lol.

I also havent done WC since back in the day when AMD had the Opterons, which the Laptop and Desktop socket was the same, and you could take the laptop CPU, throw it in a desktop, and overclock it like MAAAAD!  It was a whole dangerden setup back then though, they were like the only guys doing it.

I'll keep you guys updated.

Also, heres a pic of most of my stuff. :)

Theres only 1 of my 980's in there, and my soundcard nor processor are in the pic.

Soundcard = Asus Essence STX
Processor is an Intel 5820k  (I almost splurged and got the 5960X, but... obviously i didnt. :P)

Well honestly there are quiet a few things that could have easily gone wrong, still doesn't mean people should be rude to each other(you included). A power tool such as a dremel has the possibility to generate/release enough of a static shock to damage things, but there could always be some form of buffer on the output that could negate it, I don't see why they wouldn't put something to protect the card from a bad/shorted cable or other bad connections. Then there is always flying metal bits/dust which can do all sorts of bad things.

Glad it worked out for you but since you have it apart now, did you see a way where you could be able to just pry off that outer cover? If someone was really determined to do this I would suggest not using power tools. Instead I would have them pry off the cover and just use diagonal cutters to snip off the exposed connection as close to the pcb as they can without scraping against it.

Then again I would first say just get a case/mobo to fit your needs, but to each there own.

The fact that you dremel tooled the crap out of that WITHOUT covering up the rest of the PCB is what made me cringe. I couldn't watch. All of those teeny-tiny metal filings, just waiting to cause a short or component failure.... *shudder* you are so lucky. I totally agree with you though. I'm sick and tired of all of the DVI VGA ports. I'd love to be able to buy a single slot card like the Asus Ares.

Corrected: Users who only want One Slot Card like the ROG Ares III the cost is $1700.00 for a 8GB 2xGPU Card it is still only 4GB per GPU.
A little High and to boot it has a DVI VGA Port.
I have been looking for a Single Port High End Graphics Card for two days now and have not found one card.

Ok, bcav, thanks for the compliment! :)  Apologies if I was abrasive earlier, I caught a ton of flack for the video, which I kind of asked for, but either way I should have ignored.  I appreciate the feedback though, I do. :)

So anyway, its going to be a cram packed build. I had to drop out the reservoir i wanted to use because of lack of room. so yeah. lol.

Also the paint isnt setting very well so I may not be able to paint the heatsinks the way I want. Which is still fine, only the Liquid Coolant will be solid UV yellow. :)
