    You need to set it up per game. That is currently a very broad question. You would need to mention which games, what resolution you are playing at and what refresh rate.

    You could use ultra settings. Bf4 isn't all that taxing and can make great use of a 970. You may not be able to set DSR to 4k, but you could easily set resolution scaling to 125-150% and still get great performance.

    I just bought a 144hz monitor, did I do the right thing? I noticed some slight stuttering on my old 60hz monitor while playing fallout 4... Will my new monitor improve quality in my games?

    You monitor will give you the ability to see higher frame rates for sure. It will help reduce tearing substantially and should improve your experience.
