Hello good people of EVGA,
It looks like my inexperience needs your assistance. I recently was greatly upgraded by EVGA from a X79 DARK to a X99 Classy. I know right? I got a great deal on a 5930k CPU from our market, that place gets me in trouble at times, lol. I would like your help to choose what would be the best RAM for this board. I don't want to/can't spend $200 on it. I will overclock a bit nothing crazy, figure around 4.4-4.5. I would like 16 0r 32 GB if the price is right. I really like Mushkin RAM, but I see it's not on the list..... SO ,what is the "correct" speed ram for what I want. If you would give part number or even links, that would be great. Thank you!

Edit: I think I want either 3000 or 3200 Mhz memory.

I have not tested the x99 classified in almost 2 years now, but I trust Corsair Dominator ram. I bought a 2400mhz kit, and it has a 2400 mhz xmp as well as a 2666mhz xmp profile. That made it very easy to set it and forget it.

I picked up an open box of these which cost me ~$220, the 32GB kits can be had for less, and the 16GB kits for around $90 - http://m.newegg.com/Produ...number=N82E16820233967

They run at 3200MHz (with 100 BCLK which is very nice) on my X99 Classified without needing the extra RAM fans, but I did relax the timings to match the Vengeance LPX 3200MHz timings.

Edit: they worked fine prior to the 2.02 BIOS as well.

Website must be wrong as dual channel kits come in pairs. You get four dimms with the 16GB kit.

In general, with most of our boards from X79 Dark and newer, I recommend G Skill.  I had had consistently good luck with their memory, fast, reliable, and with the exception of their HIGH end kits, are pretty inexpensive.  Also if you stay around 2666 then you will not need to worry about the memories XMP profile overclocking your CPU via BCLK either.

3200 MHz doesn't require OCing the CPU or BCLK on the X99 Classified, yet 2800, 3000, and anything higher (to the best of my knowledge) than 3200 will.

I have 32Gb of this http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=16G-D4-2800-MR and yes you have to bump up your BCLK to run them at their rated speed. Has not been an issue for my cpu. Actually need less multiplier for your cpu oc with a bumped up BCLK. Of course Micro Center only and much cheaper then what EVGA has them listed at. http://www.microcenter.com/product/456796/16GB_DDR4-2800_(PC4-22400)_CL16_Desktop_Memory_Kit_(Four_x_4GB_Memory_Modules)

Thank you Sajin. Looks like the 16gb is showing dual channel though. But I do like those...

Looks like their site is wrong also. I'm running this kit and it shows it's quad channel. Notice the capacity between both kits are 4GBx4.

My assumption is because those kits (or, at least, the ones notfordman linked from the g.skill website) were developed for the Z170 platform, and it's just a matched kit of the normal dual-channel memory for the Z170's.  If you look at the QVL, they only list Z170 boards.  On the flip side, the last set Sajin linked, the QVL is only for Gigabyte X99 boards, which would, presumably, be labeled for Quad-channel compatibility.  In other words, promoting the memory as dual-channel or quad-channel does not necessarily depend on the number of sticks in the kit.

For practical purposes, however, it should only matter the platform/CPU and how many sticks you have when it comes to whether you run sticks in dual-channel or quad-channel.

So you could purchase two sets of dual channel sticks and match them up?  I always thought quad was strictly for quad for compatibility.

That's the way it worked on the older chipsets, as long as the MB had the capability. This worked in dual, triple and quad. So I would assume it "should" work in this case. I appreciate everyone's input since I am new to the platform.  Thanks!

Use DDR4-2666 or 3200. DDR4-3000 will set your bclk 125 and overclock other things. For bench marking this is ok but for everyday use may cause problems. I have used 3000 had to down clock the ram to DDR4-2666. I now have Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4-3200 set to XMP1 works great and runs at 3200 with a bclk of 100 all day long.

I think GSkill Trident Z are newer and maybe better modules than in CORSAIR Dominator Platinum.
My recommendation, this kit is QVL for Rampage V Edition 10th

F4-3200C14Q-32GTZ  14-14-14

This is QVL for EVGA X99 and Rampage series as well

F4-3200C14Q-32GTZSW 14-14-14

Both for Broadwell-EX.
But 70% of IMC not support so fast memory.
And Broadwell-EX and Haswell-EX.

I think something... 16GB is enough for gaming PC for now?
I suppose 32GB is overkill.
