I have the flickering as shown in these videos,   . Continues to happen after clean installs on drivers 368.81, 368.69, 368.39. Its so intense at times that I get a complete signal loss from my monitor, mainly during games (happens a lot during loading screens as someone mentioned before). I can easily reproduce it by opening firefox. I tried 144hz 120hz 100hz and 60hz g-sync on and off. Basically my DP ports are fully inoperable due to this. I'm frustrated. Switching to HDMI solves the issue.
Im using an EVGA GTX 1080 SC on an Asus PG279Q. When I use dual monitors, only the DP monitor flickers. I can provide teamviewer access or a youtube video. I hope this is not damaging my card or monitor. Both are very expensive. I'm using HDMI now ofc cause my rig is practically unusable with any monitor on DP.
I also upgraded to win 10 just to solve this and the problem still occurs. After that I did a clean install, same thing.
Changing the power settings didn't help. Please help.

If switching to HDMI port fixes it then the issue is either the DP cable which I am 90% it is. It could also be the DP port itself that Is a bit rare highly doubt it if it was working before without any issues. My money is the DP cable.

The DP cable is new, coming from my ASUS monitor. Before using it on this setup, it was working fine for months on a GTX 970

Just cause its new does not mean it won't be faulty. In the world of eletronics anything can break at any momment. From my experience and allot of threads I have read on the issue you are having it is 99% of the time the DB cable. The ones that come it the box with the monitor are most of the time cheap and faulty. They might be find for monitors that run at 60hz but when you use them at higher hz they don't work properly as they are nerver sent to Vesa to get certified. I just got a asus PG279Q and got a certified DP cable to go with it. Nerver even trired the cable in the box as I know they sucks. Have not had a single issue. Allot of DP cables out there are cheap and have not been certified by Vesa. You need to get a DP cable that is certified. I have been IT for over 20 years and belive me when I tell you it can onlybe two things causeing your issue. First try a new DB cable i am 99% sure its that. If after you get a new cable its still happening then its your card and you would need to RMA it but the chances of it being your card is really really low. Its the cable trust me. Good luck

Her is the link to the one I got and it is certified

Here is a link to the site showing the list of all the ones that are certified

Hello helpme123 and welcome to the Forums!

DENTNU is correct, this problem is often related to having a non-certified DisplayPort cable. We have a FAQ on this issue. It is also sometimes related to the monitor itself. Changing some of the OSD settings or contacting ASUS for a firmware update could be a possible solution.

Here is the FAQ on the DP issue:

I had the same problem on my 1080 FTW.  Switched to HDMI and solved the issue, but needed that port for another monitor.  Went to B**t B*Y to get a new DP cable, but they never heard of a DP to DP cable, so I had to order from Amazon.  Cables came in today, and no problem, fixed right away.  The Cable was exactly 2 months old and came with me Dell U2515H (DP to mini DP).
I did unhook all other cable and boot, then shut down, re-attached all other monitors, and rebooted.  Surprisingly seen the UEFI screen for the first time on DP since the purchase of the monitor

Edit 15:07  My cable is listed on the site above as certified, so either Dell got a bad batch of cards or it's not certified for the latest specs like the 1080 is.  The cable worked just fine on my 780 SC with this monitor, but the 1080 FTW was bad from the get go.  Just a FYI

Now it becomes really concerning for me since i live in Saint-Petersburg, Russia and in my city there were only two shops having my card and each of them had only 1 in stock. I'll wait for the cable (which are too out of stock everywhere due to next to zero demand) and test. Then it seems i would be very angry since i am just a young guy and my card is 56k roubles after tax (65r=1usd), child dream come true and then this.
