Hello guys. my stock speed is set at 3,5mhz for my CPU.
And i have a EVGA Z87 FTW Motherboard. Running win 8.
My cpu is watercooled and stock temps are 27 -30 celsius

Now i would love to OC my cpu to 4.0.. Possibly higher but i want to do it safe for the very first time.
Questions: 1. what should be the limit of a safe oc for this typ of cpu?
2. Will i gain anything out of overclocking it? Or is this just awesome numbers being higher.
3. Does ocing mean voiding warrenty?
4. Can you help me how to overclock my cpu?

I have been googling about how to overclock the cpu, but it is hard to understand if you do not use the same BIOS.
So i am hoping that someone around here knows how the BIOS work with EVGA, and how to OC with safe voltages ect..

Thank you for reading, and i shall await your reply :)

Here is a good guide to help you with overclocking. Keep an eye on temps and get a really good CPU cooler. http://www.overclock.net/t/1411077/haswell-overclocking-guide-with-statistics

I found this ASUS test while shopping for motherboards and is what I used for a starting point. I actually got my 4790k to boot and run in Windows at 1.26 with a multiplier of 48 but I couldn't launch any games or benchmarks without getting a BSOD 124. I lowered my multiplier to 47 and things were fine for about a week until I started getting the same BSOD 124 when gaming again. Things have been good so far with the multiplier at 46 but I had to 'nudge' my vCore to 1.263 to keep from getting an occasional BCC 124.

Took a look at the guide that was provided. And i must say this is too difficult for me.
I see terms being used i've never heard of. So i think it would be smart of not even try this. Too afraid something will wrong.
So it got me thinking. Is there anyone with the same rig as mine, and i could simply download a profile that i can upload to my BIOS?
Is this something recommended to do?

That can be a bit of a risk, not all CPUs are the same, some will clock way better than others and some will need way less or way more voltages than other CPUs.
If you are more specific about what terms you are not understanding, and also what your goal speed is this can be a learning experience as these forums tend to be VERY helpful and can assist with the learning curve.
