New Class K Mother board SN#1622930178800233. Installed G. Skill Ripjaws V DDR4 (F4-3200C16Q-32GVK) 8GBx4. This memory is on the supported list for this motherboard according to EVGA. However, I keep getting the 55 error code. Took out the modules, installed only two in slots 2 and 4 and it still does not work. Any help is appreciated.

Jim

What if you try each stick individually? And in different slots as well to rule out the potential of there being an issue with the board communicating with the memory controller. Also go ahead and give clearing CMOS a try with the button near the IO.

Thanks for the reply. I've tried each of the 4 sticks individually in slot 2, I even tried single sticks in slot 1. I also cleared the CMOS, no luck. Still get the 55 error. I can't see how all four of those sticks are bad. I read in other posts where the BIOS may need updated, but I can't get into the BIOS to update it.

Interestingly, if I try to boot up with a single stick in slot 1 I get a 53 error. Once I put a single stick back in slot 2 it goes back to the 55 code.

It would be very rare for all four sticks to be DOA but it has happened. When installing the RAM make sure you are hearing two distinct clicks on either side. Since only one of the latches that holds the RAM moves it can be easy to not fit it all the way. However it's more likely that the board is faulty and not able to load the RAM. Unless you have some extra sticks lying around you may need to RMA the board.

That G.Skill RAM is supported, but with BIOS version 1.02 and newer..The first release BIOS for your board is version 1.01..If your mobo has the first release BIOS, you will most likely be required to update to version 1.02 (which improves memory compatibility) to make it work, or just go ahead and install the latest version 1.03 (recommended) which will also include all the updates/fixes in v1.02..I'm guessing your board has the first release version 1.01 and is not supporting that RAM..Also, when using a single stick of RAM it has to go in slot 2..You'd need to find a stick of RAM that works to update the BIOS, take it to a PC repair shop, or contact EVGA support to send you an updated BIOS chip that you can replace.

One other thing to check is the CPU itself.  If there are bent socket pins this can happen, also if you have overtightened the HSF/WB that can happen as well.  Remove the HSF/WB remove and reseat the CPU, then rest the HSF ontop of the CPU, its own weight will make adequate contact for testing purposes and retest to see if this does the trick, if it does, you have saved your self a lot of time and frustration, if not, you are out 5 minutes.
Also, have you tried the other BIOS?  This motherboard does have 2, this could simply be an error in the BIOS.   If it works, you can hot-flash the other one to the current revision.

Thanks for all of the replies. Good news, I reinstalled the CPU and HSF and got it working. No RMA necessary.

I have a 4.4Ghz overclock running on the CPU, but can't get the 3200 Mhz memory up to speed. It's running at 2133Mhz and the XMP profile for 3200MHz causes a boot fail every time.

    Good deal.
I would move memory up one step at a time, going straight from 2133 to 3200, if your IMC isn't thrilled with it might not be the best idea, move it up, and retest it one step at a time.  Might not get 3200, but likely much higher than you are now.

I have the same problem with that memory on a Z170 Classified (non K) Motherboard and 64 Gig Memory. I pulled the memory out and had to switch them around in the slots and disable XMP. I had to switch the memory around to get it to work though.

Where are you at on this, what memory speed are you stable with at this point?

I just set it back to auto and it works fine. Haven't had time to do any more.
