just to clarify i don't really know much about computers and i was on a budget...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
im currently using windows 7 home premium
my computer : dell inspiron 560
cpu : intel core 2 quad Q9400
psu : evga 500w
ram : pny 2 x 4gb to get total of 8gb
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

and the gpu i wanna instal is gtx 950 axc 2.0 ssc. (im aware it would bottle neck cause of cpu i just wanted something that'd last and be good until i had funds to get a better motherboard and cpu..)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
anyways i put the graphics card in and connected 8pin and turned it on and got nothing to show up on screen it was just black. to be fair i don't have a div or hdmi to my monitor that was connected to the card not sure if that is the problem or not... so i had an hdmi cord around and a tv so i connected it to the tv and it wasn't receiving a signal was just blue screen.
so i looked up online for what i should do, this video was like i should disable my on board graphics in device manager then shut down put the card in then trun it on.    so i did that i disabled (intel(r) g45/g43 express chipset) in device manager under the display drivers.. shut it down put card back in still black screen.
so i searched again for a fix came across a video telling me to search under start menu 'msconfig' then click boot and safe boot and check minimal apply then shut down. so i did this and put card back in still black screen.
im not sure what im suposed to do any and all help would be greatly appreciated thank you
Your computer likely doesn't support UEFI, which the 700, 900, and now 10 series requires. There were some special 600 series cards that would work on legacy BIOS motherboards, but they were very few and far between.
You can try to update your BIOS to A06 to see if that helps, but it is likely that you just need to return the 950 and buy a used 500 series card. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=GMYFW&fileId=2731098888&osCode=W764&productCode=inspiron-560&languageCode=en&categoryId=BI
Thank you for the great info! Based on previous experience if a Dell system is compatible the BIOS version is usually A08 and up, they also usually also say something in the terms up "Updated UEFI support" in the patch notes. So it would be very unlikely that this board would be compatible. If you need assistance confirming compatibility for your current or future build please do not hesitate to give us a call at +1.888.881.EVGA (3842).
Yes that is correct. You can definitely just replace your motherboard with a UEFI compatible unit.
That board doesn't support uefi, however, I was able to find a few users running a gtx 950 on that board. Should work fine. Just make sure you update the bios to the very latest version before installing the gtx 950.
Hi Micerace now a nice cheap board for you would be EVGA 790i motherboard only fit up to 8gig ram plus its got 3xPCIE slots it takes DDR2 + DDR3 you cant mix them they have to be one or the other and it will take your gtx 950 card.
I myself have a 780i 8gig DDR2 with no UEFI bios and a GTX 950 SC+ works lovely
Maybe look around on ebay for one cheap gaming motherboard
Good Luck
