Essentially the problem im having lag spikes only in certain games but there are more games with lag spikes than without. Some games have very minor lag spikes some have very major lagspikes/stutter. I will have 60 FPS in most games and occasionally their will be a frame skip which drops by 2-10fps. Games like Witcher 2 and Shadow of Chernobyl if i disable vysnc and have upwards of 100 fps the lag spikes and stutter still happen. Video showcases STALKER and Witcher 2 with lag spikes and Shadow of Mordor without. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVFS3q4aezc&feature=youtu.be SPECCY Report (includes specs): speccy.piriform.com/results/EBPvQzDqMvN1ZTgoqmcszNt Games with lagspikes: Witcher 2 Fallout New Vegas Skyrim Shadow of Chernobyl Batman Arkham City Games without lagspikes: Batman Arkham Origins Half Life 2 Shadow of Mordor If there are any other details required please don't hesitate to ask. Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is most likely a graphics driver issue. Which graphics driver are you currently running?

347.25 I wouldn't of thought it would be a driver issue because when I installed then newest driver I completely uninstalled the old one using the display driver uninstaller program.

I tested STALKER and Witcher 2 gpu usage didn't drop also I have done the Heaven benchmark test before the gpu usage also didn't drop. GPU usage on both games hovered around 40%.

Your GPU usage has to be dropping out at some point as that is what would cause your FPS to drop to 2-10FPS. Dropping GPU clocks could cause the issue as well. Does the spikes/stutter happen at random or in only certain spots?

Is ubersampling on in Witcher 2? It's known to cripple even the best of video cards. Also, are you using MFAA, DSR, etc? I am running Witcher 2 flawlessly with my 970. Settings are as follows: Ticked Ultra in Witcher 2 settings, 1080p (1920x1080), SSBO on, Ubersampling off, vsync off in-game and turned to adaptive in NVIDIA profile. Anti-aliasing on max both in NVIDIA and in-game with the "enhance" option ticked in the profile, MFAA on. PhysX to GPU. Solid 60 FPS. If I go to DSR 2x, solid 50FPS...can turn down the anti-aliasing from 16x to 8x in NVIDIA with no difference in visuals and back to 60 FPS (high resolution makes up for need for anti-aliasing =) ). Other part of system: i7 920 @ 4Ghz, HT on. 6GB system ram (1600mhz). Hope this helps.

Hey thanks for the suggestions. I just tried it with those exact settings before and now I always did get 60 FPS however the game still feels really stuttery/jittery. Are you running the latest driver version and are you on Windows 8.1?

Maybe changing from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 might help?

I meant more than maybe Windows 8.1 has some kind of feature thats causing it that Windows 7 might not have. That probably sounds stupid though when I think about it.

I think I figured out the problem in relation to the GPU usage drops. https://forums.geforce.co...dom-drop-in-gpu-load-/ It seems that games which have a low GPU utilization say 50% or below are getting the GPU drops to 0% whereas as a game like Shadow of Mordor which uses near 100% doesn't get the GPU drops because its using the full GPU. I guess the only thing to do is wait for a driver update or is their an alternative?

Crank the settings up, try using DSR or MFAA if it's available. Put a load on those GPU's. Make em work for their keep :D

Cranking the settings up I have tried barely increases the GPU load, just need a driver fix or to switch to another GPU only other option would be and AMD 290x.

I'm having the same issue with Shadow of Chernobyl, that's really ridiculous. I'm using the latest nVidia driver 350.12Whql, no OC on any parts. did you find any solution AndrewMC1994?
