So question on the legalities of ownership (knowing that laws differ by state)

Is the "receiver" the actual "gun" part of the weapon that is registered, and if so, how much does it cost to buy one and build the remainder from scratch? Once you have the receiver what's to stop you from making the full auto conversion?

Are their rules/regulations concerning the barrel? For example, what caliber and how long it can be? Can you make a 25mm cannon that takes the GAU-8 round? Can you make a 10-inch carbine?

How much of the gun are you legally allowed to sell, given that you aren't a professional reseller/dealer/manufacturer?

How exactly do you rifle a barrel?

Have you blown your hand off shooting because of a mis-machined part?

the barrel must be 16inches from breach to tip, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Firearms_Act

as for rifling http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rifling
of course i would check your local laws before anything else.

Great and clean job, Nateman.  However, until you find a way to throw on a custom waterblock and hook a pump/rad on it somehow, I can't really say it's the coolest DIY gun I've seen built.

Wouldn't be to hard to make it water cooled, the theory has been implemented on many other weapons.  I just don't see me throwing that many rounds down the barrel that I would need it.  Unless there is a zombie apocalypse?

See, now you're thinking.  Do you really think you'll have time to machine a block when the zombies come knocking?

If I was thinking that far ahead, I actually could have press-fit a water chamber on it, but it wouldn't be very long.  I have all the materials on hand to actually make one.
