EU store is closed and, as usual, overpriced and only available in Euros (I don't mind so much, but I spend 80% of the year in the UK).

Do you know when the EU store will be open again, Jacob?

    CPU: Intel i7 6700k @ 4.7Ghz (1.325v)
Cooling: Corsair H110i GT CPU Cooling
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Hero Z170
    RAM: Kingston 32GB FuryX DDR4 2667 @2666MHz (1.200v/15-15-15-34)
    GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 FTW 8GB @~2100/10962 (+80%/130%/88°C/+Curve/+475 - Extra 50 MHz with Curve)
    HDD: 5* 4TB WD RED
OS SSD: 1* Samsung 850 Evo 500GB SSD
Gaming SSD: 1* OCZ 500GB SSD
    Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D
    PSU: Corsair RM850X PSU
    Monitor: AOC U3277PQU 32" [link=mailto:3840x2160@60Hz]3840x2160@60Hz[/link]

Some of the above parts no longer work due to damage from my EVGA 1080 FTW.

lol, i can see a train of paranoid buyers sizing this up to avert the temp fiasco's, me possibly being one of them.
Think i'll sit back and wait for the reports to roll in first and go from there, its damn tempting tho.

I was already planning to grab one prior to the temp problems because it's so hot in my room, now that there's an actual temp problem, this is a sure buy for me. gotta wait for Amazon though

I am wondering whether to install that copper plate at all.
Have you seen this? Apparently, in their comparison they attribute higher Core temps to the fact that this plate inhibits Core cooling, and that at idle the difference between the Seahawk and the FTW Hybrid is ~11C. Furthermore they ask why EVGA didn't extend the copper plate to include the mosfets that are now the subject of heated (hehhe) debate.

Also watch this vid explaining the PCB, quite interesting.

If you want the more Cooling then move over to the Hydro Cooper.
Heat and Temperatures issue are mostly caused by users Overclocking to high.
Some users are buying low end graphics cards and trying to make them higher end cards.

The point is that maybe that copper plate does not decrease temps effectively. Instead making the Kit less effective cooling the gpu.

"They" refers to the people at gamersnexus doing the review and analysis.

And of course if you want the best cooling solution then move to WB but that would mean lots more money wouldn't it. :)

And this thread and the kit are not about low end graphics cards is it.

I only point all this out for people to consider. You may do as you please with the info I provided.

If you don't install the copper plate, nothing is going to be cooling your VRAM and then they will be the subject of heated debate too!

From what I can gather no other manufacturer uses the copper plate method relying solely on thermal pads for those modules.
The gamersnexus article suggests that is why the Seahawk temps are cooler as there is less area to be cooled without the copper plate.
Further, the EVGA solution for the fan on the card with the Hybrid unit pulls  rather than pushes, which was also noted in the article.

ETA The FTW Gaming heat sink unit does not cover those areas either. There are just thermal pads between the VRAM and the plate.

ETA PS My assumption is that the mid plate pictured above is going to be replaced with installation. However, if it is not then the copper plate would serve to cover the VRAM modules of which you speak. Unless a newly designed midplate is shipped with a larger machined cutout exposing the VRAM  modules. Perhaps better to just leave that mid plate off all together and let the fan blow on the components directly?

so i was watching the teamevga video on how to install the 980ti hybrid cooler https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MepbdKc6m_s

i know the 1080ftw hybrid installation is not the same.

my questions is towards the end of the video he recommends placing the radiator above the video card.

is that still the case with the 1080ftw hybrid and does it really make any difference?

i am asking because i've seen (on google) just as many installed above the card as installed below the card.

also, by above does he mean the entire radiator or just the intake/outtake of the radiator.

    thanks in advance.

Yes, it is still the case. You always want the radiator above the pump since bubbles float to the top. If the pump is at the top, it will trap air bubbles and burn the pump out.

I doubt they will release a version with the vram player for regular 10 series cards. The FTW hybrid cooler has the plate so the kit has it too.
I do wonder how long we have to order these? I need like 8 months to build my evga bucks up to afford one. Do these generally stay available that long?
