thanks CptSpig, I think I'll wait for Hydro Copper for FTW. i think it's worth some time to wait than spending $300 more to get looped now.

Your Welcome, glad I could help with your decision.

The new VBios just changes the fan curve to an more aggressive profile, so I don't think so

Goddam it, I couldn't wait... pulled the trigger and bought one (including the $15 shipping)

Also bought 2 ML120Pros (and a fan splitter, 16 screws, and a can of compressed air).

Gonna pull/push this baby with mag-lev fans!

Will EVGA be releasing an installation video (I found one for the 980ti install)?  The paper instructions are terrible.  There's undocumented parts, missing parts (at least in my kit), etc.  I did put in a support ticket but haven't heard anything yet.

The first one is tape to tape the header wires around the fan. (Look inside the shroud that came with it, you will see some in there)
The second one I believe is supposed to be pieces of thermal pad to be situated somewhere on the underside of the pcb I believe.

I received a reply from support stating the the first is thermal pads for VRAMs and the second is a "tube spacer".  I still have no idea what I'm supposed to do with those but mine didn't come with a tube spacer anyway.

Well they don't know what they are talking about then because for one, the copper plate has thermal pads already applied for the VRAM.
I just looked at my kit again  and in the bag with the two pieces of tape, and it is just tape, is the one strip of 2mm thermal pad to go inbetween the pcb and backplate and 3 small washers.
There is another piece of thermal pad that is 1cm x 1cm and I have no idea where that is supposed to go because there is no mention of it in the instructions.
You might want to send them a picture of what was included in the kit and ask them to explain.

Well, the earliest I'll be able to do this is Friday so I hope I have an answer from support before then.  The instructions don't even tell you how to remove the ACX cooler.  It's just magically gone.

Can anyone give rough temperatures I should expect under load after installing this? I am still getting up to high 60c/low 70c in Battlefield1 with no overclocks or anything. I'm thinking I need to disassemble, reapply paste, upgrade radiator fan, etc.

Well, this is starting to get a bit silly.  I received another reply from support stating that the picture I posted above isn't EVGA's (it was taken directly from the product page) and then sent me instructions for installing thermal pads.

EVGA's support used to be much better than this.

It looks like there would be no point to installing the thin strip thermal mod to the front of the card (on the inductors) if you have this kit since there is no heatsink above them in this kit. Is that correct?

that seems rather high...i ran furmark and the temp maxed at 55c...you also have to look at it more in terms of ΔT, rather than absolute temperature, as absolute temps are going to be dependent on ambient air temps.

Why are EVGA releasing a hybrid kit for the FTW when there is already kits available from other manufacturers?  When there is nothing available for the Classified?

Shouldn't you be concentrating on coming up for a solution for your only card that currently has NO solution available anywhere! (1080 CLASSIFIED).

Seriously - the Classy REALLY needs some loving.

Thank you.

I was contemplating a kit for my 1080 FTW, but they're unavailable if you're outside the USA which is kind of... pointless.

They didn't even give me a tracking number for my Hybrid and its annoying as hell. It just says "Shipped USPS (No Tracking Number)"

I have to go to a Post Office to get my packages. I would like to know when the hell it would arrive so I can make time during the day for it...

I received mine last night and looked through the parts (I've read the instructions several times before).  Does anyone know what these mystery parts are for?  They aren't described in the instructions (which are sorely lacking) at all.  Oh, and I should add that the second one isn't included in my kit at all.

Did anyone figure this out for sure?  Photos would be great.  I figured the left most is the tape the wire coming from the blower.   The other two I'm not sure about.  I installed mine today and the results aren't impressive so far.

because 1070 and 1080 are exact same and theres no classy for 1070. It makes sense since they are gonna sell much more, for example 1070 ftw is much more affordable than 1080 classy which makes much more money in the long run. its just business

Re: HYBRID Kit for GTX 1080/1070 FTW 2016/12/08 07:03:06 (permalink)
I'm still not seeing much benefit from the Hybrid on my 1070 FTW + bios + thermal pads.  For my thermal pad + bios upgrade I used the supplied TIM -- For the hybrid upgrade I used Thermal Grizzly Aeronaut.

The radiator is pretty small / thin and becomes heat saturated very quickly.  It looks like a Corsair H55 kit to me.

Baseline Idle: All PC fans 100%.  My ambient temps are pretty cool  65-68 typically.
Max temps: Kombuster until temps stop rising.  All PC fans 100%.
Core clock: +120MHz
Memory clock: +400MHz

Baseline Temps: Idle 31C -- Max: 56C
Hydro Temps: Idle 29C -- Max: 54C

I rigged the 140mm fan (NF-A14 iPPC-2000 PWM) that was in place where the 120mm radiator went on the back of the case (not a good seal or anything).  Temps dropped a good bit more.

Hydro Temps: Idle: 26C -- Max: 49C   (Note: Ambient temps might be slightly cooler.  I was expected +1-2C).

Bottom line
The kit is nice.  They need to offer an option of another radiator setup with premium fans -- or off the kit without the radiator.  At the minimum a premium fan would help a decent bit I would think.

I am going to go with a custom loop in the next year with a 1080 hydro copper.  For now I plan to buy the Corsair H90 (140mm) to swap out this EVGA 120mm.

Note: I do hear a "slushy" sound when moving my case and upon initial startup from the radiator.  I've never heard this from any closed loop kit I've used so far.  If it continues I will contact support -- maybe the coolant is low and or air trapped?

I didn't use the two bands of tape. The other item is two circular foam inserts that go into the unused screw holes on the back plate. If you look at the picture you can see them cut-out from the whole piece.

My Hybrid keeps my temps way cooler than the standard ACX. Like 15-20C cooler. I have my radiator situated at the front of my case as an intake. It takes the coldest air in rather than pulling warmer case air out.

I did hear a slushy sound at startup when I first ran my cooler. It went away and hasn't come back since. My Corsair H55 makes a quick watery *swoosh* noise on startup but is gone within 1 second.

Thank you!  I was looking at the foam piece backwards thinking wires or something went through it.

I have the Corsair 750D airflow... 280mm on top and the EVGA radiator on the back both blowing out.  I have 4x intake fans 2x 120mm on the bottom and 2x 140mm on the front.

I do think I'll give the H90 a try.  I have several NF-A14 iPPC-2000 fans already... so rather than spend 40-50 on 2x 120mm's for the radiator I can swap to a larger / slightly better quality unit for 50 more.

My temps have dropped a couple degrees concentrate since the initial install/test.  Temps are great.  I wish I could push the card a little more but it appears I'm hitting the voltage limit.

So, I can't seem to be able to find one of these anywhere with the exception other than price gougers. Is this item discontinued? I've researched this topic high and low (I think I did) and can't find anything stating my worst fear, that I am out of luck.

If anyone has information that would be great, thanks!
