In order to set up additional accounts, do you have to enter a new credit card for HP's Cloud Service, or can you use the same one?

Also, does anyone have any idea how long HP's Cloud Service beta will last before we need to start paying?

You could probably use the same one but I used a 2nd card to go with my 2nd account

Two accounts?  That's kinda violating the terms

Check your clients. I had one go down yesterday morning and know of a few others. "Status Message: An issue causing some instances to appear in a "Running" state but unreachable and rebooting within the management console resulted in a 500 error, has been found and resolved. Some instances may still be in a shutdown state but showing running. You will need to reboot these instances to bring them into an active state. Thank you for your patience while we resolved this matter"

If you need to reboot, login to https://manage.hpcloud.com/login  and select MANAGE SERVERS on the correct compute cluster. Select the Instance name under Running Instances and and select REBOOT SERVER. Wait a few minutes and try to connect.

I posted HFM.NET setup instructions.

Thanks much!  I've got everything setup, am monitoring with HFM, and have 32k PPD more than I used to (thus far according to HFM).

Uber fun!

HFM.NET could not connect or display PPD. The server was unreachable when I tried to connect with PuTTY and ping the server's IP address.  Rebooting and terminating the server within the management console resulted in a 500 error.

How is this possible? I am running two 8-core instances and definitely not getting 15k PPD!

Oh ok
I could connect with putty but HFM wouldn't display and I couldn't reach the servers
Come to find out when I was setting it up for HFM I misspell folding, so after correcting it I can now see both of my problem clients

You must have done something wrong
Did you set the advmethods flag? Did you set the WU size to big?
Also the PPD you'll get from 8 core varies
I'm getting anywhere from 12k-26k
On 4 core I'm getting anywhere from 6k-9k

Indeed and I believe this has something to do with what CPU's you're paired up with, I bet someo of them aren't right next to each other and the time to communicate between them is affecting PPD as I have some identical project numbers with 9K PPD difference.

I set the options for WU size [big] and I also set the flag for advanced WU's. Can you tell by looking at my folding profile that I am getting 12k-26k like you are?

Since the day I got my HPCS beta invite, January 25th. Set up my five instances and began folding immediately.

It looks like you are new to folding.  Did you put in a passkey for the servers?  It will be 10 WUs on the passkey before you get any bonus points, which is where most of the points are.

Erm, no? Not sure what a "passkey" is or how to invoke it for folding. When I was asked to enter a passkey, I simply just hit enter and skipped over it because I didn't know what to put in there.

Any help on how to re-do my servers to get this passkey thing to work would be greatly appreciated! =)

You get a passkey here: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py

You'll have to stop the client with CTRL-C and restart it with "./fah6 -smp 8 -configonly" to get back to config.  With a passkey, bonus points are possible once 10 WUs have been completed with that passkey.  Also, you need to keep the completion ratio above 80%, which shouldn't be too hard.  Good luck!

Well, jimmy is using two accounts for 12 servers total.  I didn't see anything in the EULA against that, but they might just remove his access to HPCS for that.  I'm getting about 70K PPD on mine, so you can expect that.  Of course, this is after the first 10 WUs are completed under the passkey, so it might be a day or two before the points really pick up.  Your servers are folding fine, just without a passkey.

Thanks for the clarification Firestarter512. I went ahead and obtained a passkey and reconfigured my servers with it using your instructions. Hopefully I'll start to see some improvement by Wednesday.

That 70K PPD you are getting, is that just off what you are running on HPCS?

Thanks again for your help! =)

Pretty much.  My other comps are down for maintainence or having issues with video cards.  67K is what HFM reports for me for HPCS.

If you need to reboot, login to https://manage.hpcloud.com/login  and select MANAGE SERVERS on the correct compute cluster. Select the Instance name under Running Instances and and select REBOOT SERVER. Wait a few minutes and try to connect.
