my rig: AMD 8350 8 core processor running at 4GHz Evo 212 cooling fan MSI 970 gaming motherboard Hyper X Fury 16gb Ram 1600MHz GTX 1060 graphics card EVGA 650G power supply. This is literally a brand new system which i bought recently and put together myself, i am running windows 10 home and i cannot figure out why my system keeps randomly restarting. I have searched all over the internet and tried countless fixes but none seem to be working. when i go into event log i get a Kernel power 41 (63) Critical error. I honestly do not know why it keeps doing it so confused Also i have done no overclocking or anything like that which would make the computer unstable. Sometimes i will run a game for an hour or abit longer and i will get a black screen and then its loading the MSI logo which means its starting up again.

How old is your PSU? Kernal Power Error is an unexpected shutdown of Windows. The only way to check if your PSU is cutting out and shutting down is to get yourself a VOM and get voltage readings from a MOLEX connector and see if your voltage drops to '0' when it shuts down.

Could be a few things that I can think of. My first thought is ram. Pull out a stick and see if the problem is still there. Double check your timings/settings. Overheating would do that as well as a faulty PSU. Is it only restarting when you are playing a game?

This happened on the 30th and this was the only one in those folders that you suggested, however it has been happening since this and in the event log it says this:

yes agent it is and after about 30 minutes or so of playing a game only, but i have also checked to see if it was a problem with ram and used Microsofts tool and that said there were no faults with the ram sitcks

Nevermind, I see you mentioned you were using Windows 10 in your original post. There have been other complaints from Windows 10 users about the Intel USB 3 drivers failing to load. There is a download for Windows 7 but not for Windows 10 as they are supposed to be installed by Windows 10 during installation. Someone has modded the INF file for theWindows 7 drivers if I can find them somewhere. I had no problems myself since my Windows 10 install was an upgrade from Windows 7 and the USB 3 drivers and controller were already in place. Open your Device Manager and under System Devices see if there isn't a yellow triangle next to that Intel USB controller. P.S. Nevermind again. Our replies crossed and I was still typing when the others had posted. Sorry.

The kernel power event ID 41 error occurs when the computer is shut down, or it restarts unexpectedly. LINK ******* CHECK YOUR AUDIO DRIVERS IN DEVICE MANAGER! ***** ***** If you have more than one DISABLE ONE AT A TIME AND TRY TO CAUSE THE CRASH! Does your MB have audio drivers, installed ? Did you load total Nvidia driver package - which includes sound drivers ? I run DDU, and custom install the EVGA / Nvidia drivers Use DDU (Display driver uninstaller) in safe mode to clean out all your nvidia drivers. Use the clean and restart (highly recommended) option. Sajin LINK --- Only selecting PhysX and the actual GPU driver, none of the other "stuff" and select clean install. ( I do NOT load GeForce Experience software, Nvidia 3D drivers, Nvidia Sound ) Did you upgrade to Win 10 ------ OR ----- Clean install ? Double check all of your power cables, Fully seated, little clips are locked onto the socket bump GPU power (8-pin side goes into GPU & 6-pin + 2-ping goes into GPU)

Windows 10.... Enough said. LOL If it is only during games, to me that narrows it down to ram, overheating or a driver/software issue. Hmmmm....

If you are not pushing sound to your monitor through HDMI -- do not load the Nvidis sound drivers If you are pushing sound to monitor speakers -- remove & disable MB sound Less is more in this type of issue.

Yep, the onboard audio is located in PCI bus 16 or some other high numbered location. You can't be disabling those but disabling the video board's audio drivers from that location in your Device Manager will keep Windows from reloading its default drivers.
