I would just prop it up under your monitor where it is almost always in constant view. You just have to glance down at it once in a while or around the time you expect it to shut down. See if the 12v rail is dropping down at all. If you are getting any dips or fluctuations it would indicate a defective PSU.

oliverburridge my rig: AMD 8350 8 core processor running at 4GHz Evo 212 cooling fan MSI 970 gaming motherboard Hyper X Fury 16gb Ram 1600MHz GTX 1060 graphics card EVGA 650G power supply. This is literally a brand new system which i bought recently and put together myself, i am running windows 10 home and i cannot figure out why my system keeps randomly restarting. I have searched all over the internet and tried countless fixes but none seem to be working. when i go into event log i get a Kernel power 41 (63) Critical error. I honestly do not know why it keeps doing it so confused Also i have done no overclocking or anything like that which would make the computer unstable. Sometimes i will run a game for an hour or abit longer and i will get a black screen and then its loading the MSI logo which means its starting up again.
One of these is the problem... #1 Defective psu. Try another psu if you have one. #2 Defective gpu. Try another gpu if you have one. #3 Overheating. Check cpu/gpu/mb temps with hwinfo.

the middle column shows the temps, i ran the test for 10 minutes overall, the minimum temps were idle, also to note i played the benchmark on high settings

At this point it is most likely the Power Supply.

I concur, sounds like psu crapping out. Is it any game or a certain game? I have had a patch for a game just refuse to work and it would restart my system after 15 minutes or so every time. I have also re-seated some molex connectors or swapped working ones with another set just to see and have solved problems a few times that way. Sata cables and ports too...

The reason why I asked about you using auto settings in bios is because they are usually good enough to boot the rig but when it comes to a strain on resources, like gaming say, it can shutdown/bsod/error out etc.... you really should manually input your cpu voltages and ram timings, voltage and clock rate and you may solve the issue. If those two things, especially, are not set correctly they will ruin your whole experience. If you tell us the make/model of each we may be able to give you better settings to input. Edit.... sorry brotha, I just saw in your first post you laid out your specs. A 1000 noodle lashes for me!!! :) Ok, 8350 and 16gb of hyper xfurys. What ever is written on the ram sticks sticker is what they should be set at in the bios. Don't use the XMP or auto setup, do it manually from the numbers on one of the sticks and set the command rate at 2. The 8350 you could set to 1.3v at stock and that should be fine but you wont know for sure without restrarting and checking a game and seeing if it crashes etc... With your gcard you may want to overclock too but wait to do that till your stable.

so i ended up changing out all the wires for my powersupply, thought it was running fine until it froze again! and didnt exactly know how to change the voltage of the CPU but it was running at about 1.4 anyway and the ram were already set as default. Conclude its either a power supply issue of a GPU one at this point?

Could be, but base on what you just stated --- Set your RAM up manually in the BIOS If your RAM has no visible stickers with the setting, go to the mfg website. 1) set the Voltage from "auto" to the volts the mfg says to use 2) NO --- XPM --- at this time --- or even "auto" -- set the timing manually in BIOS Save then exit and reboot If there is a newer BIOS available, have your local computer shop install it. The notes for the BIOS should tell you what the new version addresses.

Just a freeze and no random reboot?

There are good chance that Voltmeter can't help. In this situation best way is installation of backup PSU, if you have. If you have time you can check with Windows 7, pay attention on all connections between PSU and motherbard and GPU. Someone post USB 3.0 driver but is it compatible with Windows 10 or not?

Imo, 1.4v for a stock 8350 is too high and you can get the same or more errors from a vcore that's set too high as one that's set too low. I would at least split the difference at put it at 1.35 and test. Please follow our recommendation to manually setup the ram sticks correctly. If your using a 16gb set with 4 sticks you may have to increase the ram voltage by one notch to power all of them stabley. Until you have all your bios settings correctly input it's going to be very hard to pin point any issues that crop up. Something you said kinda concerns me also and that was your saying that you switch out all your PSU wires, which ones and where did you get the wires? From another PSU?

Windows mem diagnostics isn't very good. Run memtest86 v7.1 for a few passes to rule out faulty ram. You will need a usb flash drive to install memtest onto. Test each stick of ram individually with the others completely removed from the system. http://www.memtest86.com/..loads/memtest86-usb.zip

Can you test the graphics card in another computer? If not, just rma the psu to see if it helps resolve the problem.

My friend is bringing his PC round tomorrow, going to test the PSU and graphics card in his, will hopefully rule which one it is then! also earlier i was watching videos on youtube in full screen and it froze and made this buzzing sound, any ideas as to why this is and is it the same issue? Also i did not mention before i am using a slightly older monitor and have to use a VGA to Display port adaptor to get my PC to be compatible with it for the moment till i can buy a better monitor, could this possibly be the reason for these restarts?

While this may be a PSU issue you have several problems going on in the pics you posted of your logs. The next time it freezes and you reboot open event viewer and export the application and system logs and attach it to your next post. To Export: 1. Open Event Viewer 2. Highlight "Application" 3. "Right Click" and select "Save All Events As" 4. Choose a name but leave the file extension as .evtx Attach it to this post. Event ID 41 (Kernel Power) is a normal entry on a reboot from a power loss. What I'm interested in is the Event ID's preceding the force reboot.

I see. Only picture files can be attached which is kind of dumb for a forum post. Can you zip it up or use Winrar and post it to a file hosting site like http://www.zippyshare.com/ then post the link here? It will have to be zipped or rared as they weed out other file extensions and exe's
