An GTX 760 is PCIe 3.0..An i7-4930K is PCIe 3.0..An X79 mobo is PCIe 3.0 ready**..There is a BIOS update for the mobo which "Adds support for Ivy Bridge-E Processors" which most likely will give you the PCIe 3.0, my guess..Update to the latest mobo BIOS and go from there..Run the Render Test in GPU-Z (by clicking the "?" symbol next to Bus Interface) to confirm it is switching to PCIe 3.0 under load..There's also a patch you might need. **pending PCI Express 3.0 supported CPU

You're welcome..Glad it worked out Be advised you'll need to run the Gen3/3.0 patch or manually regedit (specifically, RMPcieLinkSpeed) again if/when you update/reinstall the graphics driver using the clean installation option or if using Driver Sweeper/Fusion, Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) or similar driver utilities because the Gen3/3.0 registry entries will get deleted and you'll be back to Gen2/2.0 again..Best to check if Gen3/3.0 is still enabled with GPU-Z or in NVIDIA Control Panel -> System Information after a graphics driver install. (Thx Xray)

you shouldn't have to use regedit/gen3 patch at all, check to see if your running the lastest bios for your mb. I have the same o/s and did not have to change anything or run that horrible patch, I just had to purchase the updated cpu for my rig and it worked (of course I am running the lastest bios for my mb too)

If I remember correctly, Nvidia incorporated "native" Gen3 support on the X79 platform in their drivers only for certain the 780 or above GPU's. And only if you have a 4xxx chip BIOS that supports it. So if you run a 3xxx series chip and/or a GPU under a 780, you need to use the patch for Gen3. I can't find the supporting links at this time, but that's how I remember this...

Here is one, updated 05/15/2014, with the list of supported products..There's more info at the GeForce forums too, search Gen3 patch or Gen3.exe..TechPowerUp just seemed to explain it better.

Thanks for the link... So as I'm reading what Nvidia stated, the list of supported GPU's for Gen3, on the X79, is longer than I mentioned above. So besides driver support, it also then depends on the motherboard Mfg'r to put out a BIOS that allows support. Since there isn't any real world difference between Gen2 & Gen3 while running a single or 2-way SLI GPU setup, no effect on what I run... But since this topic comes up periodically, I wish it was more clearly stated somewhere as to what works (or not) for Gen3 on X79.
