what im going to be doing is either using epoxy or tape to secure all the fan wires to the back of the motherboard tray and run them all back there. since my power supply is modular i think that space wont have any other real use.

So! no sleep for me last night, got inspiration and ran with it. also got new parts, that had something to do with it as well. four things. 1. i have now sleeved every primary cable. 2. i have done a lot of work on the lighting that im using. 3. i am now running both loops (minus vid cards since they dont exist yet) for the first time, including the bulkheads through the side of the case and including both pumps in the new setup. 4. got the motherboard and I/O tray from mountain mods, thanks to them for letting me get these two parts without the back panel itself, helps out a lot! ok so first, the sleeving. im using a combination of individual sleeving and bundled sleeving. also some cables which will be hidden i am not sleeving. ok so as the numbers in the picture go: 1. single SATA connector for DVD drive. long enough to be routed through the case. 2. single Molex which almost all of the fans and lights will be linked to. 3. the custom made SATA bundle which will power the 3 hard drives and the 1 SSD (see prev posts for where the SSD will be) 4. 24 pin, individually sleeved which was a pain because to have a more reliable PSU they have multiple wires going to some of the heavy load points to prevent overuse. nice but a pain to sleeve well. 5. the first 8 pin CPU power cord, same length as 24 pin since the first 8 pin is nearby (see pictures of the board im using here second page towards the bottom) 6. second 8 pin CPU power cord, much longer to go behind the MoBo tray then up and around to the second 8 pin spot. 7. 6 pin number one, for the 6 pin just above the PCI slots. 8. 6 pin 2 and 3 for next to the two 8 pins. may cut them to length or shorten them if needed but for now im going long, i can always make them shorter. 9. all 4 PCI eight pins for the 2 video cards ill be running. what do you think of my plan and/or sleeving? let me know. moving on to subject number two! lighting. i swear i typed lightening five times before i got it right. anyway i started with this: LED bar and i quickly found (by cutting it open and taking the strip out) that not only was it seperatable into 3 LED segments that still ran fine on 12 volt, but on top of that, it had pre soldered spots to wire new leads to each segment! so naturally i went cut happy with it. now, note that the bar itself was a white PCB, what i spent last night (part of it) doing, was putting 1/4 inch black heatshrink over each piece and then cutting (with a sharp exacto) off just over each LED since they are raised its easy to do. looks pretty snazzy if i say so myself! also once you arent looking straight at it, there is a soft glow, not a dot effect. so ive got a long one for illumination in general, two small ones for a secret project, then a double one for lighting up the reservoirs. the two individual LEDs came with the clear plastic fan spacer im using for the pump recess. not sure what ill do with them. oh, and yes i have mountain dew pajamas. next up is the watercooling loop.(s) looks a bit of a mess, eh? well, itll look better when i have a case to put it into. 3 rads, 2 pumps, 2 reservoirs, 2 CPU blocks, a liquid flow sensor, and eventually 2 GPU blocks. if i say so myself not bad for a first watercooling attempt. although, being broke led to some..... innovation. what do you think of this? so coming in through the bulkheads you have on the right the GPU loop to the left the CPU loop. the far left you can see the outbound (to the res) bulkhead and the sneaky path up to the rad that is dominating the top of the picture. next is the simplest connection, allowing the pump to pull water for the CPU loop, then we have the only snake fittings in the build! 2 of them, to make it so that when hinged this system will still work while the side panel is open. then to the far right we have a single connection with a 1 inch section of tubing then a 90 degree elbow connected with a female/female adapter to a normal compression fitting which is where the water would be coming back from the GPUs and back into the reservoirs. how bad is this? with my limited budget it was the best i could do and still have the hinged side panel. none of it leaks and the flow sensor is spinning away merrily. also the pump recess with the dedicated fan is keeping the pumps quite cool. im going to wait till i can get the rest of the case powder coated and begin assembly to worry about the MoBo tray. please let me know what you think, glaring problems, disasters waiting to happen, common mistakes etc. im all ears.

the 240? no, the fins are copper with a thin black coat to still allow for good airflow, at some angles you can see the copper.

so I've painted the front of the case parts with a hobby brass color, all by hand since I couldn't buy a airbrush. i also painted a "horn" shape on the top of the case, my girlfriend said it looks like a mustache.

thank you! so i got 2 parts today! window and back panel. this is the back panel attached to the motherboard tray, looking very nice so far, im going to be creating supports to connect the tray to the case itself, maybe chains to keep with the theme. here is the back panel attached to the rest of the case frame. my concern here is it all being strong enough. I'm thinking about using the MoBo tray for structural support, or wires running from corner to corner. other part i got was the window! "Illic est haud certo tantum fortuna" translates roughly to "there is no fight, only fate." this is in line with the dragons' ideas. that there is a hidden order and fate behind the chaos of the world. im planning on lighting up this window somehow, and i realized i have 2 perfect LEDs, so i tried placing one along each edge. i really like the look. the smudges and such from handling it show up instantly. i need to polish it once mounted. what do you think? next up is getting everything including the tray mounted and fitted properly, then once i know everything fits and will hold up, ill be getting all the metal parts powder coated. also any ideas for the front grill? i want to do something to make it unique.

so here is the first test fit of the back panel to the PSU and MoBo tray, some trimming is needed but overall its looking good. i had to cut off the 10th slot of the tray and i had to cut the shape of the PSU out of the bottom of the tray but if my measurements are correct, the bottom of the motherboard will rest 1/8 of an inch above the PSU. then i finally finished sanding and painting the PSU's colored little fan bracket thing. matches the theme quite nicely. what do you think?

is it bad when you can taste the solder? just kidding, but i fixed my soldering iron and got to work. here is the power distribution system for the fans: front 2 fans, bottom fan, 2 side fans, 2 back fans, 3 top fans. 10 fans in total and that is if i dont do push-pull on the 240 or the 360. but this way all the fans take up a single molex connector including the two 5v fans. in the future i can expand this little board up to 12-14 fans. another cool feature is it passes the current through, so you can still use the molex connector for something else. then i finally completed the top of the front of the case. installed the green LEDs, painted it a little better, and installed two switches, one for all the LED lighting and one for all the fans lighting. so i can turn off all of the lighting if i want. what do you think?

Looking great! You are true artist in every sense of the word. Question about the front bezel side pieces. Did I miss somewhere in the thread here on how you painted the side screens? As I havent been able to figure out how to remove them and taping them off for painting is just not in my scope. Taping off the X shape on the right side panel and the slotted vents was enough for me.

oh what i did was i used an exacto knife to cut the plastic parts holding the metal grill in place off then after sanding and painting i used 5 minute epoxy (any hardware store should have it) to stick it back in place.

Ahhh thank you sir! I am very familliar with 2 part semi rigid plastic epoxy as I work on auto interiors, and sometimes old florida sun baked auto plastic breaks or even crumbles. Heck sometimes even new plastic breaks. That epoxy is great stuff! Thanks again and I look forward to seeing your powder coating job! I have considered sand blasting my case as my paint job has its flaws, and having the whole thing powder coated. Also have been looking for a replacement door for my haf 932, one with a bigger window and if I have to loose the fan oh well. I saw the amd one but I don't want that because I don't own any amd products. When tax time comes and its time get another gtx460, if the prices are right I may go ahead and get me a couple ati 5*** or 6**** for cf instead. Still up in the air though. Thanks again!

I'm looking at a local company to do it for me but they are asking $150+ for the work and I'm trying to do this for cheap since the parts are going to cost so much.

Thanks for the link, thats almost exactly what I am looking for! As for the sand blasting and powder coating, and am just going to pay a local company to do the powder coating, and for the sand blasting I will probably have some else do that too as I don't have any of that kind of equipment. http://www.procoatpc.com/ I may just have them sand blast it too since they will be finishing it.
