Well I De-Lidded my 3770K & the results were good 11c-15c temp reduction across the cores. I used Coolaboratory liquid ultra on the Die & MX4 on the Block.
Here is the test results before & after

Re:HAF HYDRO finished! New pics with 670's on water & 3-monitor surround! 2012/12/24 20:54:41 (permalink)
This is lovely looking:

Only downside are them thick monitor bezels
Yet it would be nice to get that same resolution and monitor size from one screen, even that I would prefer 3x 1920 x 1200p or 3x 2560 x 1600p only, 16:10 aspect ratio monitors would be more my choice with S-IPS , H-IPS or S-PVA screens.

What Flight Sim is that actually? Is it' X-Plane X Global or Flight Simulator X Deluxe Edition? Both are very demanding I do find Even that X-Plane seems more complicated to me, although I do have it, I am keeping it until Project G34 is completed xDDDDD I bought it because it was on a special at the Aviation Mega Store, in Alsmeerderbrug, near Schiphol International, Airport, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

X-Plane X Global also supports multi CPU systems, even if you have a 4-Way 16 core Opteron 6300 setup or a 2-Way 8 Core Xeon E5 setup, each core will be used to control traffic and other parts of the simulation, which is a very cool aspect of this new Sim, it also has SLI & CFX support and DX11, so your GTX 670 should do very well with it also

But yeah man, this is a beautiful setup you have made there and it's certainly ready for takeoff

Thanks, Gold Leader
Yes I wanted better monitors but i already had one so I bought 2 to match, I didn't want to spend the extra $ after all the PC upgrades
It is X-plane, I have not even had the time to learn it all yet (yes complicated).

Thanks, eternitykh
I was a little apprehensive, but it was not a bad job, Just take your time with cutting your way into the silicone. It gave me a lot more resistance than I expected  The rest was easy, I even put some black silicone back in the same areas. I doubt anyone could tell even Intel
Now I need to remove the water block again & try Coolaboratory liquid ultra under it as well, might gain another -10c drop! according to Feniks one of our members.
It would be worth the 15 minute job for that kind of a gain!

yeah when i did mine, i made sure i was careful with it, cutting down that sealant, i had to apply a very firm and steady pressure on it.

oh and im using liquid ultra on both the die side and the block side. i just need a better pump and bigger rad, lol. that rs360 isn't gonna hold out once summer hits. good thing it's really cold right now

Nice Mods rig, you might put a 120mm rad in front of that rear fan.
I was able to squeeze a 140mm in there.

I noticed that as well, I guess they figure it would be easier to Re-Tim in the future. I put just enough black silicone to hold the lid on, in the same area as Intel did. I don't think it matters one way or the other.

I noticed that as well, I guess they figure it would be easier to Re-Tim in the future. I put just enough black silicone to hold the lid on, in the same area as Intel did. I don't think it matters one way or the other.

So did you use any particular silicone? or any silicone should work?

Any will work, I just used black because Intel used black. Here is what I used available at any auto parts store or home improvement store. I used a toothpick to put a fine line around just inside the edge as they did.
