Big changes are on the way to Early Access zombie sandbox H1Z1. Later this month H1Z1 will be split into two separate games—the open-world survival mode being one, and the competitive Battle Royale mode being the other—and each will be sold separately. Daybreak Game Company also told us that it no longer plans to make H1Z1 free-to-play in the future, as was the originally stated intent.
 
Here's how it's going to shake out. One game will be called H1Z1: Just Survive, which will contain the multiplayer survival portion of the game. The other, consisting of Battle Royale plus some new planned competitive modes, will be called H1Z1: King of the Kill. These games will be completely separate from each other beginning on February 17, and each game will be sold at a price of $19.99.

 
Talk about a bad idea, the only thing this will do is split the game player base.

    I have watched H1Z1 on Twitch a few times, and just couldn't get past how much it resembled ARMA II and III, so I just stayed away from it on that premise.  Now, I am glad I did, lol.  
     
    If they ever put it back to one game, I may consider it, but definitely not buying two versions of one game.

    it's on sale for $15 on steam right now. The game is in alpha stage, it has micro-transaction.  I bet the game publisher changes it's mind about going free-to-play within 3 years.

    Can it be split into three games? One game for the trolls, one game for the hackers and one game to allow me to cry quietly in a corner wondering why I spent money on another zombie survival game.

    Yet another game being reworked to shill more money out of the consumers while no doubt offering a inferior product. I'm so glad I had the sense never to bother with this game in the first place. Now scuse me while I weep in the corner at the ever slow death of the once wonderful pc game industry.
