Hi to all,
this is my first post and I'm sorry for my english... I'm Italian.

I found this thread interesting so much but I've not seen yet an E762 BIOS Template. So this is the mine:

Mother Board ( EVGA X58 Classified E762 )

For now this is my first test on stock cooling and ambient temperature of 24/25°C:

Guys just got my new baby...  I wanted to ask you is it good batch? And any advice for overclocking at Classy 759.

My target is 4.5GHz and up , i am with water cooling single loop only for CPU, triple fan rad. Apogee GTZ.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Re:Gulftown 6-Core BIOS Template thread 2010/04/15 11:03:23 (permalink)
Ok guys im not sure if anyone can help but I have been struggling with voltages for some time now. If anyone has any leads for me as to what could be causing this problem I would be so happy to figure it out. My system is requiring extremely high voltages to run a overclock and it has been this way even with my 920 D0 so I am pretty sure it is not my chip unless I have the bad luck of getting bad chip after bad chip. I have composed a list of minimum voltages I can boot into windows with at each clock. Keep in mind that this list is a minimum voltages meaning that they are not stable just what I can boot into windows with. For example I can boot into windows at 4.4Ghz at 1.4375Vcore but it isn't stable unless I bumb my Vcore to 1.535V so keep that in mind when you are looking at these voltages. To run this test I down clocked my memory to its lowest setting so it would not be a conflicting issue. I would also like to note I upgraded to a Corsair Dominator GT 2000mHz kit and it didnt solve my problem. In fact I fell like it has only made matters worst because in order for me to run my ram at 2000Mhz/143Blck I cant even boot into windows unless I am running 4.5V CPU VTT.

My list of minimum Vcore required to boot into windows Turbo/on:

28X - 133Blck = 3733Mhz - 1.225Vcore
29X - 133Blck = 3866Mhz - 1.275Vcore
30X - 133Blck = 4000Mhz - 1.300Vcore
31X - 133Blck = 4133Mhz - 1.3375Vcore
32X - 133Blck = 4266Mhz - 1.3875Vcore
33X - 133Blck = 4400Mhz - 1.4375Vcore - (1.535Vcore stable)
34X - 133Blck = 4533Mhz - 1.50625Vcore
35X - 133Blck = 4666Mhz - 1.56875Vcore

There is no real world diffference from 1600Mhz and 2000Mhz ram. Try using 1600Mhz you will use alot less VTT and temps will be lower also.

Have you tried upping the Bclk and dropping the multiplier? For some STUPID reason mine is more stable with 167X27 than 145X31, they both equal 4.5. Also, have you tried setting QPI frequency to 4.80 GT/s?  How are your temps? Are you watercooled? If your temps don't get over 80c while Stress testing, you're fine.

Yup I have tried upping the blck and changing the multiplier. Though I haven't messed around with it too much I have tried your template along with everyone else on here. It just seems that no matter what I do I have to pump out a massive amount of Vcore and CPU VTT compared to everyone else. My temps are ok I mean I haven't done too much stress testing due to stability issues but from what I have seen my hottest core hasn't reached 60c yet so I am not too worried with the temps. At idle my CPU shows up as 20C in E-Leet and my hottest CPU core is around 39C. at load my CPU is usually in the 40C area. My VREG is cooking though. It has hit 105C in stress testing even at stock clocks. I have tried lowering the QPI frequency but only if I raise the Blck.

Well, I found that no matter how hard I tried to get voltages down where everyone else is, No luck. Tried for DAYS. Finally, just gave in and ran it where it is now. Not all chips are the same, and mine LOVES volts. Who cares? My vreg never gets close to that temp, although when I got my board I removed all the heatsinks and replaced the pads with Ceramique. Always done that since my 680i. Also put a 40mm fan on the heatsink too.

Why is that stupid? Higher multi, lower bclk, makes perfect sense. Also, no need really to short change yourself with a setting of 4.8 GT/s vs. 6.4, I'd look elsewhere for adjustment.

Productive in what way?  I have seen no improvement in Gflops, or Vantage cpu score going from 4.8 to 6.4. My machine will not boot with that setting unless i'm under 147 Bclk. The 6.4 is for stock Bclk. I believe. Doesn't my 4.8 increase as I up the Bclk? No way of seeing this anywhere. I'm PRETTY sure i'm over 6.4 GT/s with my 167 Bclk. setting, and 4.8 GT/s. in the bios. Correct me if i'm wrong.

The 4.8 does scale with Bclk.

Thanks, That explains alot for my no boot thing. It's probably over 6.4GT/s with my 167 Bclk when i'm set at 4.80. Is there any way you can see this?

Re:Gulftown 6-Core BIOS Template thread 2010/04/16 12:06:00 (permalink)
So guys here are couple questions. I ordered 6 core CPU and i am looking at your templates which are all over the place.

What is the benefit of keeping host cpu frequency around 133Mhz? Why not go with let's say 190Mhz x Multiplier?
Secondly why are you guys so obsessed with memory. Currently with i920 i am running GSkill 1.5V@2:8@1600Mhz, don't think we need anything faster then that and running at 1.5V takes care of heat.

Thanks.

Re:Gulftown 6-Core BIOS Template thread 2010/04/16 12:35:43 (permalink)
It takes less strain off the system and uses less voltage to keep the host cpu frequency around 133Mhz and just use the multiplier. I also run my ram at 6-6-6-24-68@1650Mhz and only needs 1.275 VTT to do so. I found no benefit running the ram at 2000Mhz and it added lots of heat because of the extra VTT voltage needed.

Hi.  I'd like to use a 980X with multiplier at 27 or 28 (preferably 28), and go with a good 1333 memory.  What bios changes would be needed with the Classified, and would those changes be close to the same with other high-end motherboards such as Rampage II Extreme, MSI, etc.?  Don't know much about it, but it seems that changing the cpu to 28 and the memory multiplier to 10 would not be too difficult, but I don't know.  Cooling would be a Prolimatech, True 120 or similar.
Thanks much.

You could do that but you won't get very far with the QPI (bclk).  DDR3 1333 would at default require a 2:10 divider but of course you'd have to back it up to do any worthwhile overclocking at 2:8. Your best bet is a lower multi and higher bclk combination.  You'd frankly want 1600 ram at least for more breathing room since if you wanted a high QPI, you'd almost have to go with a 2:6 divider and I don't even know the Classified let alone most good mobos would boot with that.

What I was thinking was an overclock to around 3.74 with the memory at 1333, and I also thought (wrongly, it looks like) that all you'd have to do was increase the 980's multiplier to 28 and change the memory multiplier to 10.  Looks like it's a whole lot more complicated than that.

Oh, well, back to the drawing board.

Thanks much for the info.

Get your oc on your cpu before trying to run your ram at 2000Mhz. You really need to lower your VTT voltage its crazy high.
