When did it start?  Is it only in certain games/benchmarks?

I've had 3 cards with coil whine. It's my experience with folding@home that seems to have solved the issue. Full throttle folding quieted all 3. It's worth trying

Yeah, as I recall, it took an hour or so. If you try it, the folding software offers minim and maximum folding options, move the slider to maximum. The 3 cards had a loud whine and after working them hard they were absolutely silent, no bs. Hopefully you will achieve the same results. Good luck

Google Folding@home and dl their app. Install it and don't forget an aggressive fan profile in Precision X and fire it up.

I like FAH for several reasons non more important than the science but it will give your system a total work out and point out any weakness thats living in there.

I don't know what causes coil whine but from my experience with these 3 cards I do think that it's something that goes away after the card is thoroughly broken in. That's my humble opinion but I could be totally wrong!
