When I first bought this gtx 780 it would just over heat then the computer would crash. But now it seems like I can only play certain games and they still crash once in a while, when I try to play other games the computer will completely shut down and restart as soon as the game launches. I bought this card back in May.
Specs -
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
GPU: Evga Gtx 780 SC /w Acx cooling
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 TR-600 600W
CPU: i5 3570k 3.4ghz
RAM: 2x 4gb G skill ripjaws series
Motherboard: Asrock z77 extreme 4
My original plan has been to buy a new power supply because that's what seems to be the problem from what I can figure out but I'm afraid that it's the graphics card causing problems.

From my understanding of the ACX cooler is that it does not send the air outside the case. So, if you do not have good airflow and ventilation. The card will overheat. But it is likely that your power supply is just being pushed to its limits. My 2 suggestions are to go with your plan and upgrade to a bigger power supply, possibly one that can handle 2 video cards, in case you decide down the road to do sli. Second suggestion is if you have not done so already, to reroute the wires inside the case so as there is plenty of air being circulated around the card and coming in from outside the case.

I have the same board as u and I have 2 780sc in sli and bf4 was restarting on me..i right clicked on the icon in origin and chose repair..it fixed this issue. he is right though the cards do not send the heat outside of the case..why I have no clue..so I have my side panel off of my case because of it.

Is it possible I could've fried the graphics card by pushing it to run games at high temps?

What kind of temps are we talkin' here? I believe the normal operating temps are 80-85c and 95c is the max but it will throttle at 86c.

Sounds like the PSU is having a problem. Time for a replacement.

It would only get around 80c then the entire computer would shutdown and restart. Going to buy a supernova 850 and a larger case, hopefully it helps :(.

Had a similar issue when I went from 650 to 760 but I had a cheapo offbrand one. Kinda odd a Thermaltake one would fail at barely 60% load.
