I have had this card for some time now, but lately I notice this weird fan scraping noise when the fan is on auto and core temp drops to the 50s or lower. There's no noise when I play games. I went ahead a modified the default auto setting to about 60%. It was fine for a while, but it's slowly creeping back again. I see that other people are having the same problem. Is there any fix for this?

One thing to try would be the tension of the fans themselves. Very gently see if you can move them and if they are loose. If they are and you have a small Phillips (crosstip) screw driver, you may try tightening the screws that hold the fan to the heatsink. If the bearings have gone bad underneath, then, you may have to look into an RMA :-/ hopefully it is an easy fix.

Thanks Scarlet, I actually did what you suggested before and it was fine for maybe about 2 weeks. I'll take it out and maybe inspect it and tighten the screws a little harder this time.

Hopefully it is a fix. If you can pull one screw and check it for loctite, that may be an issue if there isn't any. If there isn't, maybe pick some up, just loctite 222 (relatively weak but functional still) so that the screws aren't able to back out.

It may be a good idea to check the visible screws in the shroud as well. I think they are in the 4 corners of the shroud, but I couldn't tell you exactly without looking at my cards, and they are currently 8 thousands miles away :-(.. Stupid vacations interfering with helping.

Thanks for the help Scarlet
The good: I re-tighten the screws and it solved the noise issue. Hopefully this time goes away for good.
The bad: When I was tightening one of the fan, I think I stripped one of the hole...the screw is now kinda loose but not to a point where it can come off I think...
I am kinda worry that the screw might come off later...is there any replacement for the fan?

Oh man, very sad right now. So as suggested by Scarlett I purchased some loctite 222 to secure the screws and the noise was gone. So today I took the fan off to replace the thermal grease cuz my temps were shooting towards the 80s playing d3. The second I flipped the card a piece of plastic fell off. I didn't know where it came from at first and I checked the plastic assembly for any knicks but didn't find any. I put it aside and continued with cleaning. After I finished the card I moved on to the heatsink. It was fine when I lifted it over the first time, but when I lifted it up to clear the table for the card to apply grease, a bigger piece fell off and the left fan was dangling! The arms used to secure the fans broke off! All 3 of them! I'm sure I didn't apply too much force when I was applying the loctite earlier. I know better to never apply too much force when dealing with computers components. Is this covered by warranty? Of all the EVGA cards I owned, this has never happened.

Placed my RMA in and mailed it out on Saturday. Delivered today and got a current status of "Preparing to ship product"
Hopefully can get it before the weekend. Thanks EVGA on the speedy RMA!!!

Cant help to notice the fan mount on the 770 is metal, but the ones on the 760 is plastic. Maybe I should invest a little more on my next card (980?) for my next system upgrade.
