Hi.
I purchased a FTW card on monday... worked fine for the first couple of days... suddenly the fans will not spin at all.
I am aware the fans aren't supposed to kick in till 60 degrees, however my card, even at idle, took about 30 minutes to heat up to 93 degrees (at which point i stopped troubleshooting and switched off) and the fan refuses to kick in.
I've tried to manually set the fans in both evga precision and then afterburner when precision failed, to no success.
Any ideas? I am assuming it is an RMA issue, however would be interested to hear if there is any other possible causes I can test before I send my brand new card off for what could be weeks.
I'm on a 750w power supply (cooler power - pti-750), and a gigabyte - z97m -d3h motherboard, think thats all the specs that could be relevant?
I have also done a fresh install of windows, including reformatting my hard drives, in order to try to elimante any OS / old driver related interference...
Thanks for your time

If you are running multiple programs that can control the GPU fan speed - uninstall one of them and only ever use one at a time. Running more than one program that can control GPU fan speed CAN cause the issue that you are describing.

ragevirusqq Check the fan cable and header. This tear down video will show you where its at
I'll have a look, thanks. *edit* - after watching part of the video... Gotta say I'm not about to completely take apart a $1300 dollar gpu which has failed after 3 days. if that's the issue, then they can replace it. I'm more worried about it possibly being related to something else, which would make the RMA a waste of time. Since I can't post it untill monday anyway, I figured I'd see if anyone else had a similiar issue. So while it may possibly be the cable, I'm not risking my money by taking it apart to find out, thank you for the suggestion though! arestavo If you are running multiple programs that can control the GPU fan speed - uninstall one of them and only ever use one at a time. I did end up installing multiple at once while troubleshooting,(Game was running fine, and then suddenly fans must have stopped as my frame rate tanked, I opened precision (Only one installed at that time) and realised I was on a 253 clock speed with 93 degree temps. However I did the fresh install afterwords, and have only installed one at a time this time round, same issue.

Hi, Can you try switching your BIOS on the graphics card to the second position with the PC off? When you turn the PC on the fans should start spinning right away. If they do not, then let us know so we can help you with warranty. Beerscotch

If so, I have tried booting up both on master (the original setting) and slave (presumably the second bios) and the fans do not spin at all, even during initial start up. Thank you for taking the time to try and assist.

On Slave, the second BIOS, they should spin all the time. Increasing speed with temp. (edit typo)

Then I guess its official. Fans do not kick up under any circumstances I've tried including slave switch position.
Guess I'll proceed with the RMA
Thank you

As I live in Australia, if I RMA it through evga, I have to ship it international (too taiwan), presumably at my cost.
Since I purchased it from an Australian retailer less than a week ago, and Australia has the strongest consumer protection laws out of any country I've been too, It's better for me to send it back to where I purchased it from, at their cost. (Which they've already sent me a paid shipping label for)
Thank you very much for helping to confirm my fears though. Much appreciated!
