At first it was a bit scary, this being my first nvidia card. Not to mention the price. But after installing it, and checking what the os reported, I'm fine with it and think it's makes my gpu a little unique. XD

I like your positive take on it. And yeah, your card is unique. Also thanks to rjohnson for such a quick refer of it.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our intention. This is the first I have seen this manufacturing error. We are working with DMentia directly to get the issue resolved.

Really makes me wonder if there is any post production QC, such as even turning the card on to see if it works, let alone to make sure the assembly is not botched.

Regardless, EVGA will resolve this for the forum member. Kudos to EVGA for responding quickly.

Correct.  However, they hopefully have learned a lesson on this whole series that they need a lot more QC.  I don't know who they use in Taiwan or China to make these, but they do not seem to be on par with Foxconn or Asus factories.  And they cannot afford to make this mistake again.  Great support or not (well in america, over seas it is not good), production flaws and issues will destroy a brand.

Seems like QC is not that important to EVGA, problems after problems and it's still ongoing.

I expected a premium product not this.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you. EVGA has been solving all issues with customers, sometimes on a one-on-one basis. No other company works this hard on customer support than EVGA.

One thing. I know a bit about mass printing business and chances are EVGA do not print their own boxes. This was a printer outsource company error. (Doesn't totally let EVGA off the hook, make your own judgement about that.)

As for QC, I personally am pretty sure the EVGA QC is top notch. Especially after all this thermal pad stuff. I believe EVGA will probably have some of the best QC in the business.
I suspect the next gen after pascal will be getting the highest QC of all companies. The reasons are obvious.
Just opinion based on past experience.

EXTRA: Regardless of how true or how overblown the recent issues have been, no company wants such bad press, whether or not it's true. It's a cut throat market. For the next gen don't believe anything without reliable source. For example, a competitor may be tempted to annonously start a false rumor that yet again, EVGA mess up pads. You know what I mean. Often the damage is done quickly and has little to do with if it's a load of bs, or based on reality. Nature of the internet I guess.

I have done all mods. But looking back I think EVGA responded in a better way than most companies would. Not perfect, but market leading.

EDIT: Arggg, I am an idiot.  I checked the picture full size, and it's not the box. But changes nothing regarding my opinion on all this. Apologies.

To me this is an example of GOOD QC. And impressively listening too and quickly reacting too what seems to be only a printing mistake. (on the gpu sticker not the box)

My feeling is that QC is taken very seriously by EVGA. As I wrote in other post, I reckon that EVGA will likely be the most reliable brand available.
Finally, those initial infra-red pics caused a mass hysteria. Me as much as anyone. Time has passed, Nexus has tested, infra-red through a top plate! Really when this is considered I think I greatly overreacted, as did others. Pictures of burnt cards are frightening. But how many were there? Not many. Compared to sales it was irrelevant in the end. "White goods," used to have a threshold of 2% of products were defective and covered by warranty. That's over a decade ago as my job has changed, but guessing, totally guessing, I think EVGA did far better than 2%.
Probably better that 0.2% too which is outstanding. (Opinion only, please don't flame, I have no connection to EVGA)

are you implying that msi, asus or gigabyte for example have perfect products while evga is total crap? stuff happens, this is evga forum and therefore people are talking about evga products.
Besides, how many company talks to their customers on a forum and then proceeds to fix their issues?

As far as QC goes, no they dont test fully assembled cards. The PCB boards are tested once they are done, unless EVGa does theres different then the rest.

I think many wouldn't argue about Evga's customer support. But QC comes before support. Design and QC and has been lacking, but not to the extent of no actual importance.
Personally....I come for the product and stay for the service. But the product needs to be spot on first, regardless of any legendary service. I will be a Evga customer again (at some point) when my confidence is restored in their future products.
