Just wondering if anybody played with drones. Got my first one. Its a tiny piece of junk I bought for 50 bucks. Its a lot of fun for 8 minutes  then a 2 hour charge GRR. I may buy a better one and get into wildlife photography as a new hobby. Lots of critters where I live.

I hate the word "drones" being used for describing a radio controlled quadcopter. Just because so many people incorrectly used the word that they had to officially change the definition, doesn't mean that it is the correct word, in my opinion.

    It isn't grammar.

I am sure most serious "drone" owners who may show up in this thread would agree that they should not have ever been called drones. The word drone has too many negative connotations which a quadcopter owner does not want to inherit. Most quadcopter owners want to fly around for fun and not be labeled as spies or creeps.

I don't see them as much different than radio controlled airplanes....which you can also put cameras on.

Just can't hover or maneuver as well with an airplane ;)

I've looked at a Bebop 2. Been mostly getting flying and photography in with Cessna 182 G1000 the last 2 years, so drone is a bit under rated imho.

I'm interested in the DJI Phantoms and the Bebop 2, for nature photography and videos.

I haven't tested any drones or quad copters yet.

A Cessna 182 is ideal for airborne photography. Fly at 1000 foot at around 100 knots. Slow and low.

These Chroma drones look pretty cool but I would need a camera that zooms if I was going to spend 500+. 30 minute flight time is great. https://www.amazon.com/Chroma-Flight-Ready-Stabilized-Camera-Transmitter/dp/B00YH94C3Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467198611&sr

Beyond the personal airspace, I've also been concerned about the public domain. The reports of drones getting close to airliners and interfering with firefighting efforts are just the tip of the iceberg. I can only imagine what more can happen when drones are in much wider use, commercially.
