I recently purchased a 1080 ftw and it has seemed a bit slow, but I did a Fire Strike benchmark and the score 16,737 seems pretty good.
I was wondering if this score is fine for a 1080 ftw or should it be higher?

SPECS

Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.0 GHz, 128 GB APOTOP SSD S3C, 64-bit Windows 8.1 (6.3.9600)

Your score is dependent on other things as well.  Would help if you listed all your components including OC's.  Easiest to go to User Control Panel at the top and then select Signature and Comments and then 'Save'.

Also, see this thread to compare some...

Mentioning the overall score does not help much since this score also depends on your cpu performance. Share your 3DMark score link. What is your graphic score?
GTX 1080 should have a graphic score in the ballpark between 22k and 23k. While 1070 around 19k for overclocked models.

Score is fine. You could try and OC a bit to crack the 24000 graphics score.

I have been doing some more tests now just to make sure that I am getting a consistently good score, but all of the sudden my physics score has changed and brought my overall score down to areas around the 14000's. My graphics score is still just as good though
    www.3dmark.com/3dm/14392731?
As a side note I would also like to say that when playing the new Hitman game on 1080p I am experiencing some frame drops down to almost 30-40 fps. I am not sure if this is because of the new bangkok  level or my system.

Your Graphics score is definitely spot on mate,23289 is a good GTX1080 score.
Your cpu is showing at 4.1ghz..its wierd because your 1st score shows your cpu at nearly 4.4ghz?

OP's cpu may be throttling a bit because of high cpu temps. 3dmark could also be reading the clocks wrong.

Nope it really isn't. Afaik throttling for most i7s usually starts in the 90s (not sure how it works for the 4790k, seems to reduce the boost in the 80s in your case), but it's recommended to keep it below 80 for long term use (although my i7 2600 ran at high 80s for 3 years before I replaced the stock cooler to keep it 2 more years). For my new CPU I like keeping it way below 70 - Except if the cat decides to sleep on the radiator, then it gets to 75 xD

You probably should check your case airflow and think about upgrading your CPU cooler.

    80's isn't a problem. 4790k starts throttling at 100c.

I actually have the Corsair H50,just done a quick test and my maximum CPU temp was 68°C (during the physics test)so something doesn,t seem quite right to me.

Hows the thermal paste on the CPU mate? i swear by Arctic silver has it got to much on? not enough? it may be worth looking at.
Hope you get it sorted pal
