Q: the fans on the lower part of the case are just for ventilation?

Yes just for ventilation and looks. Essentially there was empty space because the case is big that I did not have anything to put there yet.

 So true...last time I had a rig cooled on water was GTX 260 Hydro Copper 16 x 3.

Yea I know it looks like a garden hose at that length... I was thinking of adding a couple more thing like a flow indicator or a drain so I didn't want to cut the hose yet but I just may.
