Yes. I have brought shame to the thread, but I need a daily use computer, and you need a dedicated computer for a CNC machine. No one around here has one cheap enough, and since I spend like $400 for that 759 X58 board... I might as well start using it!? Its been in the closet for WELL over a year.

i haven't had a SINGLE problem with a stock clocked component. Not that I haven't had my fair share of suicide runs either. I know the 759 board I have is a tested warrior. As for the 950, I haven't put it through its paces. The only reason why I won't go crazy (water cooling/overclocking) with this board is because I take it to my buddies house once or twice a month for lan games. (which we used to do much more before wife/kids mortgages etc) Just a hassle lugging a 50lbs water cooled monster around. In any case, nice to know I still can do it if and when i want too though ;)

Last night I hooked up the 759 board with the 950 chip and was overjoyed it worked! It was nice flipping through the once familiar bios. Brought back memories. Couldn't remember how to get rid of that Jmicron check at the beginning, but it was actually painless to swap over from the X58 Micro, to the 759. Took about 10 min or so for the board to auto-update everything.

Went ahead and put the Q6600 on water, now idling at 25*C. Not bad, it's with an EK Supreme HF, 2x DDC, 250mm res, and a Thermochill 120.3. Booted up and was rolling at 3.6GHz in 10 minutes. Sadly though that seems to be the limit of this board as it only has a 4pin CPU plug. Even 3.65GHz failed, it just wouldn't boot. D:

X79 Classified No idea what CPU I'll get. I sent my E762 in for RMA, and they wanted to send me a Classified3 or an X79 Classified and were cool enough to let me pick. I went for the X79 Classified thinking if worst comes to worst I can just sell it. But for now I'll probably get a 3820 on the cheap and go IvyE later on.

Well cool, EVGA didn't have any recertified X79 Classifieds. So they're sending me a brand new board with the box and all accessories.

Heh. I mainly want to trade for one so I can buy a CPU still, Nateman. I also have an X58A-OC, so it's not a need so much as a want. 295's aren't for trade though. Those things are my babies.

Is it really that bad? I know there's a bunch of issues floating around but I wasn't sure. What would you recommend looking at getting used if so? Maybe a RIVE? After thinking on it, I think what I will do is stay with X58 for right now, and then eventually get a UP7 or similar Z77 board and 3770K.

Its sweet and I can upgrade to a six core and add more ram if I really want. I think that x79 is the way to go but thats just me. Also what color is the top on your supreme HF?

Yeah I hit 3.6 on air with this CPU before, on a stock cooler just for a validation, but it just will not budge above 3.6GHz. I'm convinced it's because of the board to be honest.
