Maybe I'll run some Vantage tests for you with my 285 or GX2 and see how they are at stock. Hmm.

How much does RAM affect performance? I could try and see if I could do C6 timings with my Project X stuff.  They are C7 stock.

I'll test that soon then and see if I can get 6-6-6-18 @ 2000MHz. Any suggestions for my birthday ideas? I got a GTX 580 Classified Ultra last year for Christmas/birthday. I was thinking maybe of asking for a 3930K/3770K or Audio Technica W1000X headphones perhaps.

Got a Xeon W5580 today for $85 shipped. 1366, 4C/8T. Not sure how well it will work but I wanted it to test on my X58A-OC board. Gonna see how it clocks and then sell it for ~$200-250 on ebay, which is what they currently go for.

I don't think so. I still have him beat on gpu (my 295's at 42,830)score, but he is killing me on that cpu score though. And you have him beat with your cpu score.

i dont go by peoples clocks like that any more. to much hotkey switching going on.
and if you were to run his clocks...you will get a pretty good idea if it's true or not. from here, it looks to be true. i would run his clocks and find out.

Mother of god... The W5580 I got is an ES CPU. Stock VID is 1.00Vcore. Stock VID on my 960 is 1.2Vcore. Both are 3.2GHz chips.

Max clock was 5050MHz on a fast cold run with 2lbs of DICE. Funnily enough, board died after the session, two days later. No idea why, but it's going back for an RMA. Will post more results on the ES chip when it gets back. For now just using a Q6600 at stock lol.

I am going to retire my X58 Micro to my new CNC machine that i am building. I have been using the micro for a LONG time now as my daily stock machine. Too many waterblocks to make is making my current machine overworked & has warranted a second much better, no compromises machine. Coming from an 11x7 work space to an 18x18 build with linear rails instead of dovetails will give me the accuracy to finally resume the Air Cooled waterblock design.
I just pulled out my 759 X58 out of storage, peeled all the liquid rubber off of it, spent an hour pulling the eraser out of the CPU socket pins, and installed the 950 I got from Reggiesanchez like 2 years ago and put the (sigh) stock heatsinks back on. I missed working on the motherboard like that.
I am thinking of returning the 295's back to stock configurations and actually USING them instead of the 465's that i use now.
