I was going to bench my Sager laptop but now lost the urge.  I think I can beat your GTX 580m overclock, but your CPU overclock is just too high.

Can't deny that.  Q and I have been going at it for what feels like years over the 295 trophy.  He just doesn't know that he is only borrowing that trophy from me ;)

You just want more GTX 580m submissions to boost your points.

What exactly are you benching?

It's a Sager NP8150 laptop with a GTX 580m and a 2670QM processor.

I made some good headway on the GPU overclock with a core voltage bump, but still don't feel very confident.

To make serious head way you will need an extreme cpu.
Not sure how good the sager version of the 580m is, but you need to be running .92V.

Yeah, I went into despair when I saw your score.

Yeah, .92v really opened the card up.  I couldn't find the end of its overclocking headroom before hitting 95c; and terminated it.  I was over 850Mhz core.  I was thinking I would just put my laptop in the window or on top of an A/C outlet and let it go all out.

I have no scores anywhere.

Then how can I help you if you don't post your scores?

And yes, the A/C will help do wonders, but the 580M stays pretty cool during serious benching.

I have not benchmarked my laptop at all yet -- net even at stock speeds.  I simply tried overclocking the GPU as much as I could for trial purposes.  I have not had time to do anything further.

Q56, you might know...

I have voltmodded a 8800GT 512mb for benching.  I am running 1.2v core on air (for now).  I have done some stability tests and think I found a stable overclock.

But, when I benchmark it, any time it comes down from load, the card turns off.  The core voltage drops to zero and the display shuts off.  I have tried 1.1v and 1.15v and a lower overclock but still the problem persists.

What do you think?  OCP?

Ok...

I did some research.  My version of the card only has two phases instead of 3, so the OCP kicks in more aggressively.

I will try this OCP mod:

Didn't take you long to figure that one out   I just did the vgpu mod to my 8800GT, and typically put 1.3v through it to get 1025 core.  I may do the OCP in the future and see what it yeilds.

Good job Ty!

Oh, I fear that I cannot compete.  I am struggling to reach 800MHz core with 1.2v.  Are you doing more than air?  My core temp is staying around 60c on air with an aftermarket air cooler, but the card wants more voltage.  I am afraid to give it too much voltage since it only has two phases.  I suppose I will gain some more nerve as time goes on once I get the basic benchmarks finished.
