is the only way to bypass the max 1138mV voltage setting for my gtx480 to use a custom bios? I tried AfterburnerVoltUnlock, and i could slide the slider higher up, but it would set back to 1138 when i applied.

At 1138mV and 100% fan, my 480 is barely even touching 75*C in Vantage, and probably only 70*C in 06; so i figure a bit more voltage won't hurt.

Oh, but are custom bios allowed in Forum Warz? I didn't see anything forbidding them, only modded drivers, not modded bios.

If it's an evga card, eleet that came out for the 480 goes up to 1.39v.  A custom bios won't matter.  You have to reprogram the vr...you do that with software (eleet, xAB), or hard mod.  If you can't find the eleet on evga site, shoot me a pm with your e-mail, and I'll give you a copy of the original eleet for the 480's.

What version of eleet are you talking about? I have the latest version. It does show to be able to set to 1.4v for vgpu in eleet, but when i try setting anything over 1.138, it sets back to 1.138.

Very important update here guys.  This is our roster updated with who has and who has not submitted OC'd scores.  If you see an X next to your name than you have submitted at least some scores to 411.  If you do not have an X please submit OC'd scores ASAP.

@awalleyguy, I know you are resubmitting scores and I greatly appreciate that.

Here's an xtreme version of AB good for the GTX 480.  No BIOS change needed, no nuttin...just click voltage boxes in settings, restart and you're good to go.

Re:Get It Colder II 2011/03/01 20:07:34 (permalink)
I think its total fail actually.  It is nothing like the original.  I can't just sit there cloaked, you use just as much energy standing as running; you have to "activate" armor mode which used to be your default and always on; and its not much of a nano suit when 1 or 2 bullets puts you down.  I got spanked after an hour of playing.  I think I got 2 kills. Whats all this acrobatic crap sliding along the floor or jumping & doing that punch on the ground that JAX from the old mortal kombat did?  ****?!

I am not a fan of multiplayer of those types because there are those people that have no life (or kids) who can sit there for hours & days on end and rank up and get all this cool crap while working joes like myself who don't game all that much get spanked by weapons that use thermal imagine.  The game is designed to be a war of attrition where kids wear out the old and we just are target practice.

I was very excited to play a single player version.   I play the original single play free roaming to this day.  If this is nothing but multiplayer I will be crushed, I enjoy story lines even though that makes the game finite.  I have been looking forward to going back to that island in North Korea and kicking a$$.  If everyone has nanosuits the game blows.  The advantage is you were a one man army against everyone who DIDN't have a nanosuit.  [/rant]

Seems like Crysis 2 is hit or miss for most people. I too still play the first, doing free roam is a lot of fun. Would be sick if Crysis 2 had free roam, in New York, but the amount of modelling work to do that would be insane. I haven't seen many people use the acrobatics and ground crush thingy personally.

Oh and you can turn on thermal by hitting 'N'.

I watched a video of the single player game, something about road rage.  I think I saw the Brooklyn bridge in there.  Looked pretty sweet... for a console ;)
I know I am not a fan of the new nanosuit as of yet, but its still just a demo.  I personally think there was nothing wrong with the original, and would have loved for everything to be just like it except to finish the storyline.  I even liked the war hammer expansion pack.

Sorry, I meant warhead.  Crysis 2 actually ran "ok" at 5040 x 1050.  I loved how you could actually flank enemies, you weren't "guided" along limited paths of combat like all the COD/MW2 type games.  The free reign of the original will be the biggest selling factor for me.

Oh I have a Koolance chipset block and a BP VReg block currently, just seems that your blocks tend to outperform whats on the market. And if I was going to spend money again I'd rather do it with a person than some company who doesn't give a damn.

aww? thats nice of you :)
I ususally make my blocks out of much more copper.

The price of copper is going through the roof though

If you want to level the playing field with what you currently have, can I suggest building a chiller out of an old 5K BTU window air conditioner?  You would be surprised what some cooler liquids will do.

I've been toying with that idea for over a year now, I have a 5K window unit installed in the computer room now to offset the thermal output of the computers in there and a 12K BTU unit in the shed that works great also.
The room is consuming so much power now that when I added 5 20A circuits to it to power the computers and the A/C the power company came out and thought there might be a problem because of the spike in usage. As it is I am powering my main rig w/ 2 internal psu's and a seperate 500W PSU for the pumps and rad fans (Pumps and rads run 24/7 reguardless of rig's power status)
The lady said the 2 circuits that power the rig in my sig draw more power than my central air unit does. Figures I am burning 30-40 a month just to run the window unit. So I'd have to spend atleast that much to chill the water monthly probally. I got rid of my 42" LCD monitor and bought a 42" LED LCD monitor, that made a huge difference in the thermal output of the room. Don't get my wrong, my temps are fine, I just was looking for a better block possibility while the rig is apart.

Man, you just brought a tear to my eye.    You are in the same boat I am, with all those power hungry items in 1 room and all the extra breakers. I have three 15A breakers, and a 20A breaker in my office alone for that stuff.

Put the 12K BTU in the window & make the 5K your chiller.  You can make your chiller cycle just as if it was on normally and just cool the water down just above the dew point and not have to worry about condensation.  Granted you will have a 12K BTU running in the window, but the 5K will be cycling on only so often.

The larger the volume of water you cool the less it will cycle on, but the durations of cycles will be longer.  Why have you been toying with the idea?? Execute it!  Look on craigs list if you want to practice first on an old POS 5K btu.  I would suggest a brand new one (if you have the funds) for a new chiller because the evaporator will be so much cleaner and not rusty.

What case is that you have?  Looks pretty spacious.  That fan displays the temps?  That is pretty cool too.  It would take me a while to design a new board waterblock and since there are already many other manufacturers out there it I can't compete with volume or price.
