I am just hoping that they let hicookie do something like this for socket 2011 I can see it being a great benching board but I would never use anything like this for daily use, now if I would just learn not to dislike gigabyte bios's so much then it might be a possibility I also have to say that using the 2 sata power connectors on the side of the board to provide power to the pcie lanes was a pretty sweet idea for cable management I can see that being used on a lot of boards and I also want to see the air cooler that fits over that heatsink

the gigabyte board is made for setting world records not like the ud7, ud5 or any evga boards. using this board without subzero cooling will be pointless.

Its neat that companies employ top level overclockers to help in board design, but its only a small number of computer users actually overclock. If only everyone needed high bclks :P

is the only way to bypass the max 1138mV voltage setting for my gtx480 to use a custom bios? I tried AfterburnerVoltUnlock, and i could slide the slider higher up, but it would set back to 1138 when i applied. At 1138mV and 100% fan, my 480 is barely even touching 75*C in Vantage, and probably only 70*C in 06; so i figure a bit more voltage won't hurt. Oh, but are custom bios allowed in Forum Warz? I didn't see anything forbidding them, only modded drivers, not modded bios.

You would have to mod your bios, pretty easy to do using nibeditor 5.9 or above. A modded bios I think would be allowed, you still have to use the hardware. Also there would be no way to know if a bios was modded. Aren't you "modding" you bios on your mother board when you change a setting from default? All you would be doing is increasing the amount of voltage allowed to be adjusted to.

Technically my 295 bios is modded for 830 core, because to takes a higher voltage.

I have drafted plans already on my desk for just such a thing. You have to be serious about benching cause this block is the MOTHERLOAD of copper. Trust me when I say this, it will be 10 lbs of copper... and you won't need a phase either ;)

wow -70°C idle? thats pretty sweet. What is the current draw of that machine? I would assume it pulls less juice then a chiller?

yeah, that idle temp was just to join the rest of the phase builder crowd...lol but in real world performance...-43C under load. and in windows...about -49C to -53C it's pulling about 475W to 500W on average. compressor is a 3/4 hp samsung. now i can truly understand how your home made water chiller works now. i think i'll be building one of those soon...

your phase change pulls as much as a chiller it would seem. Phase change can cool one item really well, but a chiller can cool more components, just not as cold. Chillers are the jack of all trades.

a good water chiller and a good phase usually share a 3/4 hp compressor so 350W to 550W would be the continual power draw. and a water chiller would be great for an all around usage. while phase is great for one component but with out the 1 hour wait time. or in my case..(my 4k btu chiller and res - 15 minutes, but it will not hold anything at -0 for ever. but it didn't do that bad with 2 gtx295's and a 920 at 40F :))

I like the sleek look of the water going from card to card, but it is so unpractical for replacements. I learned that a long time ago. VGA blocks to to come from the top, so you have slack to change an individual card.
