Okay, it's a screenshot of vantage with MSI Afterburner. Just GPU test 1, got 73.45 FPS average with single 295 @ 787/1696/1128. Max temp on either side of the GPU I believe was 46C. CPU is just at 4Ghz for now.

Now, after further testing it seems that's my limit clocks, I may be able to squeeze out 792Mhz core but I'll need more voltage for it. Thankfully Afterburner allows up to 1350mV.

If I can get my CPU up to 4.5-4.6Ghz for benching, I can see 29k or higher in my future.

Yup it's just ambient water. The full loop consists of:

EK Supreme HF CPU block full nickel
EVGA X58 SLI NB/SB block
EK GTX 295 dual PCB nickle+acetal
Laing DDC 18W version w/ Watercool DDC case(top)
Bitspower 250mm res
HWlabs Black Ice GTX 480 w/ 4xUltra Kazes
Primochill black 7/16in ID x 5/8in OD tubing
EK compression fittings all over with a couple bitspower adapters

It's so cool. I would love to get a Rampage 3 Extreme though, but the block for it is $150 so for now I'm staying with what I have. (E758)

Just plain water right now, I'd like to get 800+ core but dunno if I can, when I put it to 802 with 1225mV it just shut down instantly at 3d load.

red light?  I am trying to remember.  I haven't benched since last winter I don't think.  Not since the 980x & 400 series came out.

Halo, the 295 will go past 800 core, but you'll need 1300mv to hold her steady.  And not any more, or less, just 1300.  I have no experience with afterburner on the 295.  Use precision, it works.

Okay Q I will try that later, I'm running CPU tests right now. Just passed @ 21x205, trying really hard to get it stable enough to add in the 22x multi. 22x 205 would be so epic. I'd love 4.5Ghz+ benchable.

Edit: 206. I think I'll bench fully now.

Hmm I think I'm PSU limited. It hates me. It's a ABS Tagan BZ1100. Functions fine but I have a feeling it's my second/main issue, next to the mobo. Need to get my R3E sometime and get off this 758.

@ Q with 1300 it shuts down instantly, GPU test 1 will load but as soon as it should start running 3d, boom. Lights out.

It's a ABS Tagan BZ1100.

Well, there's your problem.

If you read online reviews, most will say that the power supply is great.  But I challenge you to find one which really pushed the power supply even close to its limits.  At high power draw is where the power supply will fall on its face.  It is unfortunate that most of the online reviews are only loading it to 700-800 Watts.  I wonder if it is on purpose...

Yeah, I did, but it really didn't help my CPU overclock. I wish I knew more what I am doing. You being the laptop king, do you have guidance? I assume my stability issues are related to QPI or PCI-E. Huh...

Re:Get It Colder......2 2010/10/20 13:02:01 (permalink)
Well, my max stable overclock stayed about the same. I lose stability at around a 155 Mhz base clock regardless of if I use 1333Mhz or 1600Mhz memory. This places my memory around 1550Mhz.

The odd thing is how it falls on its face. It seems perfectly stable at one sppeed, but a 0.5 Mhz base clock increase will cause it to fall flat on its face whether under load or idle. It doesn't act like a core instability or a memory instability. PCI-E? QPI?

Re:Get It Colder......2 2010/10/20 14:06:19 (permalink)
So i have a long weekend, so i am reinstalling my OS on my main rig to clean it up some. I also plan to install some bench OS's on a seperate hdd. A few questions though.

1. With my current setup, my hdds are in Raid 1 in the normal sata ports (black ones). Whenever i crashed from OC'ing, the raid would break and i would have to wait all day for it to fix. If i put the 2 hdds in Raid on the red ports (jmicron, correct?), would they not f-up if i crashed? Also would i still need to dl IRST (Intel rapid storage tech)?

2. I plan to install multiple bench OS's. Should i install each of them on their own hdd, or would be ok to partition a bigger hdd for multiple OS's (probably 4)? Thinking performance wise for the normal benches (3dmark all, superpi, wprime, etc.)

3. To be able to select my OS upon boot, i have install OS's from oldest to newest, correct? What about if i install multiple copies of 1 OS, ex. XP pro 32 and 64?

I got in trouble a few times and someone lead me to a program that you can run that lets you make your next boot selection. I am sure there is a better way to do this but I would try and find it and keep it handy. I needed to boot from one instance of vista to another so im not sure if it works with any OS. Why dont you drop the raid if your not planning on benching pcmark. Been doing alot of playing around these programs you might find them handy. I havent really got them down though. This one lets you strip xp. ANd vista x64 + windows 7 64 the one for 7 and vista will let you set it up to load from a usb stick right in the program. More info here too. Ive been trying to get these to run for  a while ive hit a few snags so I cant really give advice on using the actual programs just wondered if you knew about them I didnt untill recently.

Well the 2 hdds in RAID 1 are for my everyday OS. I will have 1 seperate hdd for my bench OSs. Also, i already have a ton of different OSs stripped; got them from someone on XS, and they are already what i use on my full time benching rigs.

I have to take the motherboard out to see the rest of the board.  I have narrowed it down to the side facing the keyboard and the general location, but ....  ... do I really want to do this?  I'll decide tomorrow.

Default is 1.029v under load according to the multimeter.  There is a huge vdroop though.  Default idle voltage is 1.19v.  If I could find out more information on the circuitry, I would try to do a vdroop mod instead.

try voltage. that's what the main problem would be.
and i think i had kingston memory 1333 up to 1620 or so before. ill see what it does when i get my laptop back later this week.

If I could find out more information on the circuitry, I would try to do a vdroop mod instead.

your doing good...i took a look at mine and that ic chip is way to small to do anything with..grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
