Am i doing something wrong, or is my friend's gtx 295 a crappy clocker? I had it at 1100mV for 700/1150, and it passed Jane Nash but crashed in Calico. Any input would be appreciated.

i think i was able to do 750/linked/1200 on stock....i forget now...
but it could be other things causing the card not to run right.

Crappy clocker. I can get 694/linked/1200 on stock volts(1038) with mine on air.
Stock volts i can get 675/linked/1125.  Didn't try maxing the mem or core completely on stock volts, but there isn't much to go between that and 700/linked/1150 anyways. I guess i won't be getting any points for the 295.  EDIT: I guess i'll try the 9800gt eco now, but i don't have high hopes at all, seeing as it is eco edition. I am thinking of buying the 8800gtx off of him though, to work with it some more. EDIT2: Don't think i'm even gonna try the 9800gt eco actually. It's stock core is 550, where a stock normal 9800gt is 600 and people have the normal ones clocked like crazy.

rabid try upping the voltage to 1188 on the 295. That voltage is completely safe.
You can also mod the VT to go higher than 1188...1200 would be fine on air.
I assume you are running fans at 100% and at the very least have another fan blowing on the 295. I used to use a room fan to blow on the card.

The 295's like to be cold. Even if gpu temps are well below max.
Even a 10F ambient temp change makes a difference (CPU also)

Testin 930 + micro on vantage CPU test 1, checking speed/voltage needed. Should I switch it out since it's a D0 for my C0, and clocks better? It won't matter to anyone but me if I do. Edit: Looks like it needs about 1.317vcore for 4.06Ghz w/ HT etc, +100mV VTT, that's all I've changed. Good chip? I think I can get it lower when I start getting used to it.

Testing 5770 max clocks. At 980/1200 on 1.250mV. Max load temp so far @ 70% fan speed since I didn't notice it wasn't at 100%... 55C. I hate this thing. lol. I wish my 295 was that cool.

Looks like the vram caps at around 1400, needs to be at about 1375 w/ 1011 core.
Pretty nice IMO, just need to get the CPU higher. It's only at 185blck.

Pay them no mind nate. They do that to everyone who doesn't show it to them first. Jelousy shows itself in many ways. I've been a member there for a long time but post very little. Roger. Should be cool. If not cold. Speaking of which once I find a DICE place around here I'm going to order a Tek 9 slim, not sure what to go for CPU wise though... My mom is fine with DICE, just not LN2 unfortunately, but I have an MSI 8800 GT, and my 295 wanting some frost in the meantime. Apart from the pot what else should I get, insulation wise and cooling wise. Gotta cool the VRAM chips too..
