Q, remember when the liquid gets cold it will flow slower.  If you used anti-freeze it would BARELY move, which is why we use the Prestone WW fluid.  Don't worry, you will be fine!

Thanks, Nate.  I'm thinking about the gpu's.  Plasti-dip both sides of each gpu, but how about the copper block itself.  Won't that frost up?

You're closer than I am Halo...tomorrow I start to prep my boards/cards, so when my "deliveries" come, I can get going!

@reg...So should I let the chiller get as cold as possible, then turn the computer on?  I read in drewmeister's thread that was a no no...seems the cold migrates to the components and condensation can occur.  What say you?

Yeah but it'll be a few weeks at least until I have the rest. I think everything left will cost about $150. Not bad, but not great.

Thats what I did but the cpu was heavily insulated and if I didnt the chiller would only go down to around -5, how ever try his way first for sure that guy seems to know alot more than me on the subject.

I know i dont have a chiller, but i can relate with my first DICE experience. At the end, when i shut down for condensation, there was still some DICE left in the tube. I soon found that to be a very bad thing. Within a matter of minutes, there was condensation all over the metal heatsinks around the cpu, the first ram slot, and all the metal IO casings. Obviously i wiped it up and have let the board sit out for a couple days. But i figure, this is similar to what could happen with having the chiller on for a while before turning the pc on. It is just what you said, migrating of the cold.

for those with air compressors....you can use this to dry your board in a matter of minutes.
it's best to get it off. because some times...it can dry and then start to corrode later....(or so im told)

Went back the next morning (6 hours or so later) and the pot was all warmed up and most of the condensation was gone

Hair dryer works the best for cleaning up water off your board. Although when I took off my pot all the frost on the mounting bracket\etc fell on my motherboard. Had my computer setup 20min later in my case and it was fine. I only remembered about the frost after the first power on though.

last dice run, no condensation or ice build up on board top or bottom.
my shop towels looked a little spot damp but that was about it.

Thanks guys.  That's what I want to achieve, John.  None at all, or almost immaterial amount of moisture.   I'm still looking for some "tape" type insulation that I can wrap around the water line connections to the water blocks (cpu & gpu).  At least that's what I envision so the clamps and bits don't frost up.  Mcmasters only has double sided tape that I can see.  Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone for your help!

hit up nates favorite spots....i did.
homedepot
lowels
they have the right size foam wraps that cover your tubes. and they are self sealing.

for the board.
what i have found that works fairly well
front of board
1: eraser
2: shop towels
3: something in the center of the cpu block (your choice)
4: a neoprene cutout to cover the top part of the block like a blanket

back of board
1: eraser
2: shop towel
2: neoprene
3: bottom block
4: neoprene
5: shop towel for the 4 screw heads. once they start getting cold and wet...they will drip water.

There ya go! That's what I'd use for a chiller with 3/4inch tubing.

That insulation has an ID of 7\8".

You need some insulation that has an ID of about 11\16in for 3\4 OD tubing. You need it smaller than the tubing your covering it, otherwise it wont fit snuggly enough.

Mcmaster should have what your looking for. Let me see if I can find it on there

That's what I thought , Nate.  When looking at neoprene foam tape, they have double sided, and then reference a page for single sided, but the link doesn't go to single sided.  Maybe I don't need it.  I do have the rubber pipe tube insulation from lowes.  I'm planning on using it for the lines, but wanted to tie it in with the block somehow...everything completely covered.

BTW, nate, I used a little allen wrench to remove the socket hold down bracket...pretty easy.

then you should be fine with that pipe tape.  get the neoprene pipe insulation for the pipe, and then when it meets the block, then you can start wrapping with the tape.

Would that be a smooth tape like electrical tape?  I was thinking neoprene tape.  How did you insulate the connection from the line to the block, John?

Highest ive done Vantage consistently is 4.6ghz 1.53125v set in the BIOS w\o VDroop. After several runs it wants more volts too so I have to let it rest for a bit before it wants to do it at the lower voltage.

I cant do 3mark06 at 4.6ghz at all either, I think I had to settle for 4.55ghz, but I havent played with it at all. Kind of a waste of time  because with only a quad at 4.6ghz im not going to net much on HWbot.

EDIT:

My batch is 3913B

then wait a bit to do vantage and 3dmark06
but you can take that and run with it doing
2001
2003
2005
aquamark

you should be-able to raise about 150 mhz with same voltage and get some decent numbers.

Running 01 on anything but Wolfdale is pointless. 05 is just as CPU heavy as 06, not sure what kind of clocks you can use on it though. Cant get Aquamark to work, it just crashes right after double clicking the shortcut

Ive pretty much done all the 3D I can do on stock air. Going to have to wait until I get a block for this card to do more TBH. Then ill have to build a chiller.

Running 01 on anything but Wolfdale is pointless. <-- i beg to differ...you just have to better to compete is all. keeping a closed mind and you'll never make any head way there. i have caught all sorts of dual core cpus. so i know you can too.

05 is just as CPU heavy as 06, <--nope, but you may need to balance out your over clock for gpus in stead of cpus

not sure what kind of clocks you can use on it though. <--i have benched vantage up to 4.94ghz (dice) 4.8ghz (ss - but iffy)

Cant get Aquamark to work, it just crashes right after double clicking the shortcut  <--you need the updated file
[font="verdana, arial, sans-serif; line-height: normal; font-size: 11px; "]http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/387/Direcpll_for_Aquamark_3.html
replace yours with this one.

Ive pretty much done all the 3D I can do on stock air. Going to have to wait until I get a block for this card to do more TBH. Then ill have to build a chiller.

and now that im at the end...you are completely right...your pretty much at your limits. air is cool and all..but you wont be setting any mass records with it.

just a little water on your cpu can go far.....

and nothing is pointless here!
you either get in there and make it happen or you don't.
evga enthusiasts don't do pointless! every point counts here! always remember that.

Thats just stupid slow, doesnt get me more than .1 points on the bot either. But your right, nothing on HWBot is pointless, everything will get you at least .1 points! And no way is an ATI card getting you global points on 01.

I replaced the file for Aquamark and it still doesnt work.

My CPU is on water right now. I dont think I would be doing 4.6ghz vantage on air!

1: your benching the wrong os for that.
2: today...no..but when they first came out...they we're up for global all day long.
3: uninstall aquamark and grab another copy. install it and then replace the file with the updated one. if that doesn't work. try it under xp
4: i think you better ask awalleyeguy who benched pretty damn high on air. and nordijedi and a few others. me...4.5 ghz on air

benching has to do with spending a great deal of time finding the right chip and settings before actually doing the full bench.
and i couldn't get my 5870 high enough to submit for anything in 2001, so i let it go...but my old hand me down cards i had..did. so they more than made up for me not getting anything there....
#19. 3Dmark 2001 - 17293 marks - johnksss (EVGA Enthusiasts) - (Nvidia GeForce 7300 SE @640/540MHz) 2.0 points and a gold

is far better than .01 and nothing.
that made up for the 5870/2001se..

the .01 is a learning curve.. and counts for a submission towards your achievements.
you can either improvise or complain....i tend to improvise....
