At first I picked up some wax-based modeling clay says it won't dry out, but it looks like it will be a pain to get off. So maybe I'll keep it encase I ever get my cards sub-zero

Lawl I'll always be a Pc guy but never trade in my iPhone. I've had the 3G almost since it was released, best phone I've ever owned hands down.

has anyone seen anyone do this...
plasti dip everything including the cpu & bracket?? and would that even work out well?

I did.  but, the pics are at work. I plasti-dipped all the way to the top of the CPU.  worked like a charm.

Nate, I like your other method of plasti-dipping the mobo all around the socket then foam on top of that.

I just have this HK 3.0 that is octagon shaped so it is prone to air seepage in the corners.....I wish it was completely square.  So after a number of tries, with little success in preventing all socket condensation, I found that some shop towel bits in the corners works pretty well.

Actually, what I really need is a nateman rev.2 block...when is that going into production?  I got some cash in my paypal account waiting to burn a hole in my pocket

no plastidip on the top of the board, I think I will see how it goes with just the kneaded eraser on top but it will be a while till the board goes sub zero

Couldn't get the mobo to boot after prep. Just seeing how far I can bring my 1/4 chiller down before Dice runs.
Seems after everything I have to redo my overclocks the profiles I had saved before are no good. Is that common John?

yes...more often than not....

we usually save all over clocks..
then start a fresh set...to get the os to act right, then after all that is done...we try running our original clocks....a  lot of times...they will start working again...but not before. (most of us anyway)

really odd so if I was with my current setup and say I push to 4.2ghz, then go Dice my 4.2ghz profile wouldn't work?

pretty good chance...
why?

because under dice...at certain states...you may need less or more voltage than what you may have set...

I see thanks for the intel.

Starting to think I have a hardware issue maybe hard-drive or memory. No matter how cold or many many volts I have my 920 hits a brick wall

not sure what i am missing but I cannot seem to get any advantage on any of my chips with ht off, the first two I thought maybe it was just the chip but with my third chip its clear im doing something wrong. What is the theory behind no ht? Less vcore to get to the same place? Or does it just give you a better chance of booting into windows?

Less Vcore and higher stablity. On my C0 I can run ~4.1 with HT, or 4.3-4.4 w/o HT.

I would take your highest OC settings that worked, turn HT off drop v-core and vtt , and maybe qpi pll.
As I recall for the i7 stability club when turning HT off I had to dramatically reduce voltages on more than one setting to run stable. post 263

Ok, a family friend just dropped off some pc's to repair because he is getting out of the custom building and doesn't really have time to fix them. I now have access to a BFG gtx295 (dual pcb), a BFG 8800gtx, and what looks like an 8600gt.

Should i bench them? I don't want to f the cards up, but it is so tempting.
