My current pc is using a 8800 Geforce, since my 460 burned out on me. And my pc is generally a historian piece of work, "bought it in 2008" I don't bother
posting the specs cause its that old.

So the question is, buy a new gaming rig with a 980 or wait?

I heard rumors of 980ti but nothing confirmed however. -

So is this a bad time buying a new rig/A new gpu?

There is always something new coming out in a few months -  If you need a new system , get it. & Enjoy !

Very soon AMD might officially announce the new 390x's  & then of course nvidia might probably wait for that to announce some newer 980 version...?

The only new cards released from Nvidia will be after AMD releases the 300 series. Which, AMD is taking there time with sadly. If you can hold out, idk how long though, but the 900 series cards may experience a price drop if the new AMD cards performance is better (I would hope so).

But if you can't wait buy what appeals to you now. In some ways those cheap 290X lightnings were tempting, but I'm stuck with GSYNC so it's kind of useless to go team red for me.

I will either find a way, or make one.

    "A bad time for buying?"
Today will always be a bad time for buying because tomorrow newer tech will be released.
I think the best time to buy new tech is at the mid-way point or at least 3 to 4 Months after a new product is released.
This way regular users can work the bugs out or in this case the memory issue.
