EVGA already stated, the only non reference pcb is the Classified and K|ngp|n. All others are reference. That was Jacob posting that, and I will have to look for it.. The thread was referencing the 980ti ftw, which will not exist.

I'm back here it your answer... All other pcb's are Nvidia reference.
EVGA_JacobF
Yes Classified and Kingpin are the only cards that use a custom PCB.

soooo that means the GTX 980TI ACX 2.0 06G-P4-4991-KR is a reference PCB and compatible with the Titan X block??

anziel: you've been pushing this point in more than one thread >.<

as much as i kinda agreed with your thought process (as yes, they are always touted as reference with acx cooler) but ive gotta side with Luc and caution here, i mean its totally possible EVGA just used stock titan x pcb and stamped their brand, but if every other "reference" card has NVIDIA branding and those magically have EVGA branding, then yes, very well could be different.

I'm not pushing anything, I've already said this is totally understandable. I was just 100% sure that all EVGA 980tis right now are reference PCB, and just was confused as to why EK guys wouldn't realize that. Now that I see the EVGA stamp, I understood the source of the confusion.

You can see on the last picture that the "Nvidia" branding is gone in favor of an "EVGA" branding on the PCB.  Which might mean that the PCB layout has been altered.

Well, thanks for the clarification! I was just having an internal bet going on why you differentiated between different models of EVGA 980tis, and this settled it :)

From Jacob on Twitter. @the_Scarlet_one I double checked. Almost the same some small resistors and capacitors change though.

He doesn't state if the change is placement or just the fact that they are upgraded/changed. If they are positioned differently, then the Waterblock won't work... At this point, I keep getting confusing answers instead of a direct yes or no for placement of parts.

Best bet is to hold off.

I sincerely apologize for adding confusion here.

Here I am sitting in front of this thread for a couple of days now wondering if I should grab the 4995-KR and the EK waterblock and have them fit... I was going to until Scarlet_tech created more doubt in my head with the resistor/capacitor changes...

Pleaase someone confirm for me soon before I go crazy :/
Or maybe I should just buy the Hydro copper but who knows when that's gonna become available ._.

Yeah, It added more confusion when Jacob said "essentially they are the same but the capacitors are different...." How? That isn't a good answer lol!

Asking Jacob for more Clarification now. I will let everyone know asap, if I can get a direct answer.

Inquiring minds want to know. I have a reference SC on the way and then my step-up one. I want to put them both under water and would like matching blocks. I really hope this gets figured out soon. I don't want to sell the step-up one if I don't have to. This seems silly on the response time and lends me to think that they wont work together.

I swear if I have to I am going get a loan and buy the damn blocks and gpus to test this!

Alright I don't know who this Jacob guy you all talk about is but he sounds pretty important at EVGA and thus given his vague "approval" I'll go ahead and order the parts, what could go wrong am i right . Will post results if on one has done so by then.

I used the EK Titan X copper waterblock and it fit perfectly on my EVGA GTX980TI Superclock. I could not, however, use the EVGA backplate that came with it because the EK Screws were too big to fit though the EVGA backplate.

Xspc claims that their new 980 block also works with the 980 ti, despite having a slightly different pcb layout. I've got one on the way to test out. Here's a link..

Yes.  This is a known problem and always has been.  The screws you would need are m3x8, and you would have to widen the holes ever so slightly on the backplate itself, and then it will mount with no problem.  The screw head will sit out of the backplate ever so slightly though and some people don't find that attractive.

Hello all!

I am new to Nvidia and EVGA. I built a new rig with two 980 hydro coppers since the 980ti hydro coppers were sold out.

I wasn't happy with the performance and then I read about the step up program.

Long story short, I am in queue for the step up program on both cards for 06G-P4-4991-KR !

This will work perfect for me ONLY if the 06G-P4-4991-KR will for sure fit the Ek full cover water blocks.

After reading through here there seems to be some back and forth and it would mean a lot to me if someone can confirm that it doesn for certain fit.

I don't know how long this has been known but I just noticed that my EK-FC780 GTX Classy block on my 780 Classified is 100% compatible with 980Ti Classified.
This is so great news to me! Can't believe it! Check it out if you want from the compatibility list from EKWB site.
Even when it's noted on the EKWB site, could you Luc confirm that the fit really is 100% before I run to the store? :D

Our confirmation is currently only based on a visual check.  This is why the 780 Classy block is still in EOL status on the webshop.  Once we have a physical card to test it, we will update the compatibility to "physical" and restart the production of the 780 Classy block.

So you can run to the store to grab a 980 Ti Classy but you must know the detailed infos I just gave you
