Hrrrm, I've been pondering a new sponsored multi-projector build for Nthusim. Already got Optoma to pitch in on the projectors. They're sitting in my shop. Would be nice to update the computer side of the project.

I don't really understand the whole "sponsorship" thing but I entered. So are they only going to give this away to people that they feel are high profile or something or will a noob like me have a chance at winning? I mean, I will proudly show it off but I'm not anyone special.

Sponsored builds typically are for marketing purposes. My guess is they'll use it for a post on Facebook or Twitter to show off a build log.

The rules state that if you win, you MUST post a ModsRig build log of the rig you build. You can be building for any reason, it isn't asking you to go all out and build a F1 McLaren Top Fuel Funny Computer with Drag Slicks on the back... It wants to know what your CURRENT plans are for a build. The requirement of the modsrigs will make it so that you are giving them publicity. If they were only going to sponsor high end users, then they would just stick to Email sponsorships that they already do.

Find it difficult to believe that a random ModsRigs listing is the visibility they're looking for. There is no incentive for it.

Um, why would they do stream giveaways? Why would they do Gaming event giveaways? most people just sell that stuff and buy something completely different because there is NO requirement. The modsrig gives them WAY more incentive. Think about it that way. So far, they have given away hundreds of thousands of dollars in hardware with absolutely no modsrig requirement.

The 4 times AMD sponsored projects I did with them they used them in high profile venues like CES and video card product launch events. Gave the reporters something to be entertained by and write about. The sponsorship I got from Optoma they wrote up a case study for their marketing handouts. Just seems like a waste to do something like a sponsorship and not have any visibility for it.

Think of it this way: jayztwocents, linustechtips, K|ngp|n, and many many others.. they don't "Need" to do this. They are giving to the community, not to the "normal" sponsored, paid, everything they want sits on a shelf because they will never use it build. EVGA sponsors plenty of the paid people. They also give away 1k EVGA Bucks for modsrigs users. They give away live stream items almost every single week. They giveaway arouind 1k worth of hardware, or more, every gaming event. They give hardware to people for events already.. So, why keep feeding those pockets, and not create something new and fun for the community that actually requires them to open the package and USE the equipment rather than sell it as brand new when they receive it. Take an optimistic look at it rather than pessimistic. They are doing something awesome, that is all.

Please complete the below form and if we like what you've said, we will be contacting you Clearly, they reserve the right to choose whichever winner for whatever reason. I agree that it is likely something they will post on social media or otherwise share for publicity. I am sure that they have the right to share your build log and mods rigs post with whoever they want.

They've been sharing/featuring ModsRigs and instagrams rigs on the stream to get recognition to their fans... how is this different?
I can understand that they reserve the right to choose whomever they please. Heck, they don't even have to choose anyone if they don't want to.

Not sure what you mean by pessimistic? I exhibited confusion about your unsubstantiated opinion, not pessimism. I think it's fun having a build shared on social media. Only makes sense.

I guess you could chalk it up to confusion of unsubstantiated claims. They posted the rules and guidelines and requirements right on the entry page. If you read modsrigs and have ever entered, you have a surprise: Note this section from the sponsorship request: Use of Winner's Name & Information: By entering, each entrant grants permission, without further compensation, to EVGA and their agents and licensees, to use the entrant's name, information, scores, statements, and submitted material for broadcast, print and promotional purposes in connection with the event. But wait for it... from Modsrigs: Use of Winner's Name & Information: By entering, each entrant grants permission, without further compensation, to EVGA and their agents and licensees, to use the entrant's name, information and submitted material for Broadcast, print and promotional purposes in connection with the Drawing. So, if you have ever entered modsrigs, then you agreed to the exact same thing. Modsrigs winners is a sponsorship, if you hadn't noticed previously. So, they require a build log so they can show off the system, which we all agreed to by posting on modsrigs in the first place. Does that make any more sense?

I think it's cool that a build would be shown in social media. My builds have been shown off many times by other companies on social media. I think you're highly confused about my posts. I think those that enter and win will have fun showing off things. I'm just perplexed about what you're getting at in your posts though. All my posts have reflected positively on the idea yet you keep on trying to speculate what I mean in my posts. It's perplexing (and a bit annoying). That being said, I don't plan on entering at this time. I'm looking forward to seeing the entry winners.

Maybe I was confused by what you meant, and if so I apologize. I was thinking that you were meaning that the winners are going to have to do more than the modsrigs build log, as required by the entry, and show the system (outside of ModsRigs) or something along those lines.

I have a question. It states that a winner will be chosen every month. Do you have to enter every month? Or do entries roll over every month for the duration?

Thanks for the input and question. We are reviewing the terms, but I did get some clarification in the mean time. If you have one build you enter, you do not have to enter it again the next month. That said, if you have a different idea on the second month, you can go ahead and enter that and both will be taken into consideration. Thanks, Rob

Alright, thank you Rob for the quick reply. And good luck to all who apply. Looking forward to seeing what all who are chosen do with their builds.
